They work for straight people only

If the landscaping company does not want to do it then they do not have too. But they are only hurting themselves as many people will boycott them.

Michael Lord and Gary Lackey, a gay couple requesting bids for a landscaping job at their new house, received a polite ? and, well, honest ? e-mail from Sabrina Farber, a co-owner of Garden Guy: "I need to tell you that we cannot meet with you because we choose not to work for homosexuals."

Sexual orientation, IIRC, is not listed as something you *cannot* discriminate for. If that's their choice, that's fine. There was a recent story about muslim cab drivers not wanting to transport alcohol, same thing.

Is it bigotry? Probably.

Should this be allowed? Absolutely.

It's their business and they should be able to make any stupid decision they want.

Or drumming up more business depending on how you look at it.

Why is it fashionable to say something like that to a gay people and get a chuckle out of it, yet not OK if the same landscaper says, "We don't work for Jews, Spanish people, Asians, Blacks, ect?

Just because the law doesn't protect them from discrimination we can not set a double standard by saying there is nothing wrong with this behavior while getting upset in other instances.
Bigotry and intolerance is wrong no MATTER how you look at it. At the end of the day the behavior these landscapers displayed is abhorrent and disgusting.

Sexual orientation is a protected class.

From the article:
Some people attacked the Farbers' beliefs, threatened the couple and their five children, and said they ought to be sodomized.

I'm guessing they phrased it a little more strongly than that. :D

B/c there is a difference- trying to place all situations into a single black and white bucket is inherently flawed. Should an African-american business have to do business with a white superiority organization? Should a Christian organization have to do business with an abortion or adult-entertainment group? Race and gender are different than lifestyle choices and there's the whole range in between.

A privately owned business chose not to do business with someone they disagreed regarding a lifestyle choice - too bad they couldn't be more understanding, but hey they're putting their wallets where their beliefs are.

And the age old question rears it's ugly head again.

I'm just going to roll my eyes at you.
