Hey ya'll. I am throwing a lan party at my place in Missouri City (outside of houston) on October 1st and a second one on November 19th. I am anticipating about 30 gamers to come down. We are playing BF2 and Far Cry. There will be free sodas and stuff to munch on during the lan.

Also we are Barbecuing (Brisket, hot dogs, sausage, beans, potato salad...) and watching the Texas vs. Missouri game in the evening. Of course back to gaming after Texas pulls away!

And you are probably wondering what's the cost of said LAN? Well I'll give it to ya for the one time cost ofFREE!

That's right, if you are one of the lucky folks that signs up for the lan you get in for free. I can only have about 30-35 gamers so make sure you sign up, and don't just show up!

MoCity LAN 1

You get a free stickie to go with the free LAN party.

Hey Trey, winr here.

I like your rules😀, gotta keep em in line.

How many people do you have so far?

I am running Retail BF2 on a 754 Sempron (paris) 3100, 1 gig ram, 9800 PRO.

Can guests bring extra keyboards, mice, cat 5 etc, in case they are needed?

Also, how about extra chips, soft drinks, maybe meat to cook?

I have friends in Missouri City, nice place.

I live in Friendswood (Heritage park).

🙂

Yeah I was dumbfounded by the fact that not many folks for H-Town LAN.
Oh and thanks for reading / looking at the rules. I have used them in previous lans in Austin. I moved here about 9 months ago to First Colony in Missouri City, but I can throw a rock into sugarland.

I guess some only like lans as big as quakecon, but I remember coming down to Houston for the Operation Lans held in the past by Directon. I have since moved down here. I have some sponsorship, but I don't want to get into that here. That is only for people that come to the lan. Hopefully we will do another November 19th with TXGF (my old group from austin) for about 50-100 folks. I will definately be having another though on that date.

Hey Winr. Come on down. Currently I am at about 25. I think I may get to 30. Here's hoping.

Bring anything you want. Extra meat would certainly be appreciated, but not expected. I have a few folks coming from Pearland, so so folks from your side of town. I have a 1000 foot spool of cat here at the house that I am going to get crimping on to setup our network. A few Dell 32 port 10/100switches and 1 gigabit 32 10/100 switch. I figure my biggest current worry is tables, but I will have that situated before the event. This is a house LAN. I want to do it right, the way I remember all the lans I went to in Austin. I want it to be fun, and a community experience. Something the LAN centers are taking out of the gaming community.

Here are some pics of the last House LAN I was at in Austin. We are going to replicate the fun!

nah we have a bunch of Aggies there too. Hey but the Aggies play Baylor on October 1st. If ya'll lose this one I will blow my top!

I mean Fran's bad coaching decision already cost you one game. Oh and if the Aggies don't score 50 on SWT errrrr Texas State I will laugh like a little girl.

Hrmm... I'm tempted to come but dangit!!!!! I have Saint's tickets on the 2nd and I'm in San Antonio. I'm not sure I can drive up there the day before, spend the 1st there, and drive back into SA and still make the game. Grrrrr...

I'm only 17, I may not fit in if I come, lol. Also, I'm a A&M fan, I might get beat up by you Texas fans.

Errrrrrgggg... I am not going... so you won't get beaten up by me 😉

Maybe next time

I am interested in coming but I have not played any video games in my life (except Need for Speed on PC), what do you think of that?

Thanks,
Neil.

I'll be too busy helping out becuase of the whole Cat. 5 Hurricane destroying my entire city and stuff....

yeah I am with Ya.

UPDATE:

This hurricane may put a damper in our plans. I will keep you up to date, but currently the path of the hurricane passes almost directly over my area. Current projections put it over rosenberg Texas which is 30 miles from my house.

I am evacuating tomorrow to San Antonio.

If the house is still standing... I still have power... and I can get there, the LAN is still on.

If not, and you are in SA for awhile.. I'll go if you bring your gear to set up somewhere here. I might be able to nab a place to use if we need to.

I hope this goes through, LAN parties are what the world needs right now in the time of natural disasters. LAN parties and food and water and stuff.

Well all looks ok as hurricane Rita comes up. It is on the waaaay east side so it looks like we should be ok. Maybe a broken window, but not much damage all the way over in our area is expected.

I am in San Antonio now, but it took 9 hours to get here. Crazy traffic. I mean crazy. We left at 9:30 and got here just after 6:30. We were on I-10 driving in the Contra-flow lanes. Neat the whole highway was going out of town to San Antonio.

I setup a webcam so I can watch to madness outside my window. It is pointing out of the house looking down the street.

Alrighty!

Made it back home, took down the cam, and everything is ok. A few downed tree limbs, but the house is fine. Power is on, cable was out, but its back on now. So the lan is still on.

Oh, food has changed to Hot dogs and Hamburgers, fries, and deserts.

Wife is going to a party, so the food had to be easier. We will barbeque at the next one.

damn! i live in the ol' h-town too, down south by clear lake....ughh...too much of a drive to go to mo city...and i still need to unpack the house from rita...we're on the bay, so we really packed up...

iono, the farthest i drive to a lan party is friendswood...i usually have em here (bout 10-15 ppl) at my place...thank god for wireless cards...good luck with it though

Man, LAN parties in Houston? Ive been looking for a good one for some time now. I went to Qcon last year, it was too big for my taste. But less then 30 people sounds more like my style. Treyshadow, what sort of age range are you looking at? Im 31, and dont want to feel like an old guy! I wont be able to make it to the LAN on October 1st, but will make time to come to future LAN's. Man, it would have been perfect too, I just built a new pc for gaming, cant wait to break it in!

Freq you are the perfect age. I am 29 and many of the guys coming, especially the ones from austin are in the same bracket (28-33)

The next lan will be November 19th. So get ready Freq, I will expect you to be there 😉
