no up north about an hour outside of Venice.

It almost 1am here and while we're tired, me and the wife are finding it hard to sleep. Of course all of the outdoor lights are on and I plan to keep them on until I can install our floodlights and alarms. I guess I'll be sleeping in the living room tonight if not for my own piece of mind, but my wifes.

I know the thieves probably won't come back, but I can't help it and I guess this is the only way I can "fight" back in the short term.

We're going to check out a 1 year old Lab tomorrow.

Labs are wonderful dogs but they might be a bit friendly for a guard dog. German Shepard perhaps?

German Shepherds are intimidating.

I've got a 3 year old I've got to think about and while I know most dogs will bond just fine with a child it's those times when my boy will really piss of the dog that I've gotta worry about. And I know a lab or a retriever will be a little more forgiving for being a dog their size.

We also dog sat a 3 year old lab for 2 months a while back, and he was plenty loud and protective. So me and the wife are leaning toward that breed. Other than the shedding they seem ideal for what we want. It was kind of funny actually how wary our Italian neighbors were of the dog. Big dogs are fairly uncommon over here.

We're looking at a 1 year old female lab tomorrow. I figure the big bark factor alone should deter most.
