Color me skeptical ...

In none of the cases he faces was jail/prison time likely at all this year unless he manages to end up in contempt. There are going to certainly be appeals if convicted.

The question is really will felony convictions, of any kind, meaningfully damage him with a part of the electorate that is already skeptical of him and the answer seems to be yes per multiple pollsters. Becoming a literal felon is not likely to help in the general election.

I want to remind people how SCOTUS adjusts its speed to help Republicans get elected to WH.

Bush v Gore 1 month to stay recount and decide case in favor of Bush (fast)

Dec Jack Smith requests SCOTUS to rule expressly on immunity claim already decided by district court. Court says no we’ll deal with it later (slow)

Colorado takes Trump off ballot A14S3 SCOTUS steps in quickly and issues a stay (fast) 54 days

Feb SCOTUS decides to take up immunity case but hearings are Apr 22 (slow). Not only did they slow walk it but put a stay on the DC case which they didn’t have to do (slow time wasted)

SCOTUS doesn’t have to decide until end of term July. Now you have potentially run out the clock and SCOTUS will standby ready to help Trump once again to stay any running cases too close to the election.

Courts move fast to help Republicans. Courts move slow to help Republicans.

Get it yet? The fix is in

Can Congress pass a law that says DOJ cannot drop a case or fire special prosecutor once trial starts?

Maybe that protects cases

Jeffrey Clark has lost his effort to keep DC Bar from pulling his license to practice law. That's a shame.
Some new added background with Trump lawyer who tried to talk Jeff out of participating.

Another MAGA, Make Attorneys Get Attorneys story.

https://www.salon.com/2024/03/27/ex...-for-his-part-in-the-2020-mess/?in_brief=true

As The Los Angeles Times points out, Eastman claimed he was acting in good faith, and as a vigorous champion of his client. But State Bar attorneys argued “the evidence, including his often not-credible trial testimony, shows that he held — and still holds — truth and democracy in contempt, deliberately disregarding facts that demonstrate the validity of Biden’s victory to further a false narrative that would ignore the Constitution, disenfranchise millions of voters, and undermine a democratic election for President of the United States in favor of his allegiance to Trump.”

Maybe one less lawyer in CA.

Alright agreeing wholeheartedly with Karl Rove was not on my agenda this morning but ok:

I disagree. You have MTG and Trump painting them as martyrs and political prisoners. That's a tough narrative to counter in upside down world called America.

On the other hand, you can absolutely hammer repubs on repealing Roe vs. Wade, criminalizing abortion, and going after IVF even. Absolutely. Crush. Them. They have 0 counter narrative.

Turns out women kinda like being in control of their own bodies and they make up ~50% of the population. Who would have guessed?
