Update:

Landlord installed security door, but will not replace the door. He got the handyman to come and patch it instead of replacing. Slumlord in a $800k house. Fucking douche.

what got stolen, and do you have insurance?

and most importantly, did you have a knife next to your bed?

Wow, why would they even break the door. You have a window right next to both locks :)

Nothing was stolen. No insurance (I don't have much anything of value). My grandma was watching guard so he ran out as soon as she peeked her head out.

replace with metal door.

Already asked landlord to replace with a solid door and add a security screen door.

I know, I asked the landlord to add metal bars to these windows. But there's a film crew across the street at a mansion shooting a pilot so probably opted for the weaksauce door.

Neighbors told me that this is the third time the house was broken into through the front door and that the time for mischief in the area is between 10am and 2pm.

were you able to shoot at the perp?

If you weren't there to shoot at them, did they steal the gun that you weren't there to shoot?

This will be used against you if the police find out. I'd take the picture down ASAP.

Any good loots? I'm the market for a macmbook pro.

With the crappy cheap doors they use in houses now I'm surprised there isn't more of this. Who cares about locks when you can roto-zip around them.

What kind of house/apartment doesn't have solid core doors for the exterior?

House owned by a cheap ass landlord. "Market" value of this house is ~$800k.

Heh, actually an iPad, Thinkpad, and a Macbook Air were sitting out in the open for the take.

PS Not that it has any bearing on the matter, the landlord is Indian (dot).

What does a replacement door cost, $100? (assuming you can reuse the knob and hinges. What does it cost for the handyman to come out and patch it I wonder.
