My house is under construction and got broken into two nights ago. It was weird because high dollar items were left, but odd things were stolen, like a case of gatorade, a tote full of snacks, speaker wire, a drill bit, a label maker....weird.

Who the hell takes a drill bit out of a drill, but leave the drill? Who takes a cheap handheld paint sprayer and leaves the 18v dewalt drill? Who only steals one of the cans of diesel, not both of them?

Definitley kids. If I were you, I'd leave the place untouched to bait them into coming back, hide in the bushes with my AK-47 and a drum 1/3rd full of blanks and 2/3rds full of real rounds and just wait for them to come back.

Wierd - I vote for stupid kids. Wouldn't know how to fence anything big and their parents would question where it came from.

No. Most people I consort with would realize that is NOT funny. I should have paid more attention in retrospect...

We have all of our interior doors in our garage in large crates. The other day I noticed that my crowbar had been used to pry part of a crate open. In hindsight it was probably just to look inside and see if anything good was there.

I have 20 grand worth of bamboo flooring sitting out there. I have coax, ethernet, central vac, drill bits, miter saw, circ saw, insulation, a generator. All untouched. But, giddammit, by fvcking label maker is gone!

When you say construciton, are you still framing? or are you much further along. Could you locate a point of entrance. Maybe you could look for tracks, and hunt them down.

probably kids. I used to go to construction site and steal spray paints as a kid. Stay overnight and hunt them down, they always come back thinking there will be a new supply to steal

We are all framed in. Actually, we are vinyl siding right now. We had doors on, its just that we didn't have garage doors on yet, nor did we have locks on the doors. That changed yesrtday. The garage is boarded up and all door have locks/deadbolts.

Did you put much effort into it? Would you only take what was easy, or would you break windows, locks, kick in doors, etc?

I will be staying there this weekend. I hope Alaska is a no fault state, because there are going to be some dead kids in my garage.

I doubt it was kids. It sounds like a neighbor was helping himself out to things he was going to be using. I'd install an ADT system in the house when you get to that point. That's the first thing I'm going to do when I get my house next month.

A cheap paint sprayer that came with the compressor? A 1/2" drill bit? Gatorade and a label maker? If you are going to steal, why not do it right? I really think they are kids because maybe they don't know the value of things. Who walks over a $200 drill?

Someone should catch the little wankers , and use your Dewalt that they didn't take , to screw their little hands to the pile of bamboo flooring , and you should suck their eyes out with that central vac system.........THEIVES DIE!!!!! AND BRING BACK THE LABEL MAKER!!!!!
