this part, but on the inside of the door.

crack part (well broke off part.. where the lock thing goes to lock the damn door.)

WE had an accident sometime awhile ago with my door. This is the problem: my door got BUSTED in (like when the police kick down someone door) while it was closed and lock and now the part where the hole is in the wall ( this part but the one in the wall is broke. ) I need to get the wood replaced and im not sure what is called? Can anyone find that piece on homedepot.com or some similar site.

LEt me try again, damn it i need a digital camera. Its the part thats inside the house sometimes where a chain lock is placed.

Twista,

Your looking for a door-jam.

If its not a major break, repair it best you can, glue & screw, putty & paint.

Install an over-sized striker plate to cover the damaged area. Thats the metal piece
the bolt rubs against as the door closes. I've seen but never used one. I have
noticed them in H/D, they are about 8 to 10 inches long. They have them for dead
bolts also. How did this happen??........

:sun:

or replace the whole thing, they come in a unit, the door and frame (which includes the door jam that is busted up)

Thats it the frame. I need the frame that usually goes on the right side. Its not repairable b.c this happen awhile ago.

get a carpenter to replace it if you cant, remove the side, put in new jamb, paint, put in hardware. shouldnt be that hard if youve done anything similar before

i havent, so ic oudlnt do it, but my dad could, he does stuff like that all the time
