House.

A house is much more responsibility, but you don't have neighbors so damn close. I moved from a condo to a house last year and it's been great.

everyone is going to tell you to buy a house.

I think it depends on your lifestyle. if you have a stable job and a down payment/mortgage isn't going to put you at risk financially, I can see the appeal in buying a house. personally, I'm waiting to get married. I want it to be our first house, rather than my wife moving into my house or vice versa.

if your more transient or don't have the money/desire to buy a house at this point in your life, go with an apartment.

there are downsides to apartment-living (mostly dealing with noisy neighbors), but it's nice to not have to worry about major household repair expenses, and if a job opportunity came up on the other side of the country, I could pick up and move pretty easily.

a happy-medium might be renting a house :)

Well I do have a stable job right now and I've been saving a lot of money lately, so buying a house would be a good idea. But sometimes I have my doubts you know I was thinking more of getting a condo, but I'm not so sure

How much time do you figure you are willing to give up for the care and maintenance of a house per week?

doesn't really answer the question, though.

I mean, what if a meth clinic opened up next door? that would send housing prices down pretty quickly ;)
