I don't think anyone alive today can demand an apology for slavery, nor apologize for slavery.
I did not own slaves. If people once related to me did, it was not my choice. I should not have to pay random people that did not experience any form of slavery anything.
Reparations are bullshit.
Really.........
My one grandfather was killed a couple of years before I was born. My relatives say he was beaten up by 3 white men till he was unconcious, he never woke up. No one was ever arrested. My other grandfather spent 5 years in prison, for a crime he said he never did. My father spent most of his school years in a segregated school. There were not even enough school books. My dad said the bathrooms and water fountains were so dirty he said he would wait to go home. Anyone who thinks blacks over the age 60 didn't suffer immensely under racism and Jim Crow is a complete and utter fool. And damn skippy they are owed something.
While I agree (and have said so before) the way black people in this country were treated was atrocious. Slavery was a horrible stain on the history of this great country. In many parts of the country today, blatant racism still exists today.
Is it right? Was it right what your grandparents (and their grandparents before them) had to endure? HELL NO!
But do they deserve any reparations for it? HELL NO
Are we going to start paying reparations to the Irish who were treated like shit when they arrived in this country? How about the Chinese who built much of the western railroad system? Again, what about the Native Americans who had their land stolen from them, were massacred, men, women, and children? Do you really think Black people had it worse than the "Indians?" AFAIK, they were never subject to genocide.

The only reason the "Indians" weren't turned into slaves is because they couldn't be. It was tried again and again, and they killed their enslavers and/or escaped every time it was tried.
If any group of people in this country deserve reparations, it's the various Indian Tribes. They got far worse than any other ethnic group in this country's history.
Can you imagine the outcry if we had a "Bureau of African-American Affairs?" How about a "Bureau of Jewish Affairs?" Yet the Native Americans STILL have to deal with a Bureau of Indian Affairs...that has robbed them blind for decades and decades. (the last number was over $58 billion dollars owed to the tribes per US treaties and promises)

Jesus fucking christ.
Are you people really this moronic? Yeah, some poor black family is going to be able to (or have the patience to) move out of the country during a racially repressive time. Not only that, but that it's the acceptable fix for the issues that the majority caused in the first place. Let's not fix it for our fellow human beings or admit fault, just tell them to leave if they don't like it! PROBLEM SOLVED. No, dumbshit, problem not solved. Well... Maybe for you because you're an uncaring son of a bitch. Not solved for them, though. They're still poor, and now they've gotta rebuild whatever shit life they had back in the country to which their family was originally forced.
You're just precious!
Hey dumbass, need batteries for your sarcasm meter?
Am I an uncaring son of a bitch? According to my wife, YES I am.
I still think the idea of reparations to the descendants of slaves is a terrible idea.
