Is it worth getting house alarm. I am in Canoga park(Los Angeles,CA) and wondering how many people have house alarm and if you have one with which company?

Hi Ylen13, typically you will save money on your homeowner's or rental insurance with one. Call and see how much you will save on your premium and compare it to your install fee+monthly monitoring. Then decide.

Yeah, so you live in Canoga Park like Ylen13, use the same broken English as Ylen13, like to give legal advice like Ylen13, and use the same avatar as Ylen13, but you aren't him? Right...

Did you really think your style wouldn't be obvious?

The discount on your homeowner's insurance may only apply if you have the alarm system monitored. The discount on mine pays for the monthly service fee for the monitoring service.

Do you need an alarm? With or without monitoring service? I don't know. The crime rate in my neighborhood has dropped now that they are done building new houses.

In my case, I was buying it for the peace of mind.

If it was me Id get one regardless of location. Save money on insurance, and gives you peace of mind.
My parents' place in a good area was broken into last year. Never thought it would happen, especially cause it's a high-er traffic area with cars passing by. Take nothing for granted. Peace of mind goes a long way.

Central Station calls the cops first, then an emergency contact # (my cellphone) so I can get over there myself also. All for $150/yr. (local guy has a cheap rate with the central station everyone else uses) + installation cost. It's definitely worth the peace of mind. Nobody's going to stay in the house with the alarm blaring. There's also a remote option in the case that the burglar decides to cut the phone line. You can also have the smoke detectors dial out to the fire dept.
