I was just wondering which was the hotest tech out there ?
I have been into Web development for last 5yrs and now feel its time to update my skills and jump on to some thing else. I hear PeopleSoft, SAP and Datawarehousing are doing good.
Can anyone suggest some skills that woud be easy to pick and help me make more bucks.

I'd love to get into SAP....I've got about a year's experience on it and 1 full LC but it was all informal training and tutoring and such... 🙁

Neither. I'm a business student (MIS). A couple of SBS consultants set up a fictional company on one of their servers and tutored me the in the SD module.

some programming language i think.
i went for an interview and they knew i had NO programming experience but they touted that learning SAP was easy and painless. I knew VB somewhat and the chick said it shouldnt be too hard to grasp if i had a sense for programming.

IIRC, SAP is programmed in ABAP.

it is not a programming language but rather a business management software.
it is EXTREMELY powerful for the wide varieties of management tasks it can accomplish; from raw material to stock inventory to purchase orders to shipping method to customer contacts to account receiveables to all kinds of information related to all aspect of pretty much any company.

BMW, Bulgari, and Porsche utilize SAP. just to name a few. the company I used to work at is also implimenting SAP.


also, SAP is VERY user-friendly, pretty much anyone who can use windows XP can use SAP.

You've got to be kidding right?
SAP may be powerful, but it's anything but user-friendly.
At least the inventory module and materials planning stuff.
 
Six Sigma. At least you can't be exported. Most of the stuff here can be outsourced, process management can't
 
You can jump on any technology you want, but the difference is in the details; you have to set yourself apart from the others. Specialize in whatever interests you most and people will respond.
 
Computer Security. Call it "Information Assurance" if you want to sound smart. Not too easy to learn, but there are very few people who can do computer security (well), and the need is only growing. Plus, as an added bonus, I don't think they'll be outsourcing it to India any time soon 😉

Last I heard the SAP & Peoplesoft were doing pretty kool in India. Most of the projects were american companies.
Sure I wanna learn something that doesn't have killer competition.
