Well, for those of us with a 4+ megapixel camera, a big CF card is a must-have. Your 16mb card would store about 3 images for me.

Our "needs" will always expand to fit the media we can get. Low megapixel cameras may not need 320mb, but an mp3 player, digital camera w/ movie capturing capability or hand held computer could always benefit from more space. Good deal.

Well , for some cameras , 16 MB can save only *one* picture best quality.
i.e., Nikon D1x : TIFF - 4028 x 1324 x 24 bits = 15,624 KB.
320MB..... just about 21 pictures!

I think you are talking about IBM Microdrive.. right? Microdrive has the best $/MB ratio. However, in most case, CF is more reliable than a harddrive since it has no moving part. Therefore, some users might not want to take the risk. i.e., professional photo-journalists

A 320MB CF card for $139.99 is a hot deal for me since a 1GB CF card is about $1,000.

If you look on www.pricewatch.com, you'll see that a 512M CF starts at $189. I think that's a better deal.

Not a bad deal, but Fry's had a 128MB card for $40 very recently. If that's still going on, for the same price you could have 448MB of storage (although technically that'd be 3.5 128MB cards, which is impossible to buy. But either way, the price/MB would be lower).

Plus, for me, 128MB stores something like 180 images at 1280x1024 res, Fine quality (there's econ, standard, fine, super fine, and RAW). I can only store 20 RAW on this, but I'd never use RAW anyway, so that's not a big deal.
