HOTT!!! Konica Minolta DiMAGE X60 Digital Camera $237.80 After Dell coupons!

Ride,

Lookin at Steve's under "Best Cameras" and don't see the Kodak DX4530 on the page. He does recommend the Minolta X50 under the ultra-compact category. I've handled the X50 at Costco and it is really small, would seem handy. The X60 isnt much bigger.

EC,
your 'best camera' link is broken...
The link I posted to the DX4530 on Steve's Camera Site still works.
If you read the review on the Kodak, you'll find that it is one heck of a (real 5.0 MP) camera for under $200. It makes me want to drown my Minolta Dimage 7+ for which I paid just over $1G. 🙁🙁🙁

Edited to state that: It is very important to compare lenses and optical zoom and digital zoom between the two cameras.
Optical is far and away the more important of the two.

Edited again to state that your link now works for me. Remember that the Kodak is an early 2004 model and the X60 is just fresh out.

You must have been dropped on your head as a child to compare that piece of sh!t Kodak to the X60. The Kodak is uglier, bigger, and made of plastic.

I'd need some big-ass pockets to fit that Kodak. Comparing that to the ultra-compact X50 or X60 is like apples to oranges. People don't buy the X50 for maximum image quality. They buy it so they have a camera hadny for any of those spontaneous "moments" that require a camera you can whip out and snap on-the-fly. Thanks, but if I want a camera the size of a brick, but with good image quality, I'll stick to my Digital Rebel. I've been eyeing this X60 and the X50 as it would be a great party/club companion. I won't take my Rebel anywhere near a place that I would consume alcohol!

Ok I think this is a smokin deal if you want an ultra compact. The best price I can find the X50 is about $260 after shipping, and this X60 is brand new (released last month) and supposedly upgrades the X50.

Nice find OP. I ordered one ... remember to get the 3% FatCash back too.

Hm... What coupon are you talking about? Best E&A coupon I can find is $60 off $500.
EDIT: nevermind, found it.
EDIT2: Price now up to $275 WITH coupon. Only warm now as you can get it for $300 shipped from NewEgg.

Due to my damaged cranium, your knowledge is obviously, vastly superior.

I only have several digital cameras, among them, a Kodak DX4530 which is superb for taking photos, however, it is true that this camera can be seen.
So, you're right, I probably don't know sh!t.

The X60 is going to be perfect for your secret shots in the lady?s john and up their skirts.

You've got me impressed! 😀😀😀

I don't debate your opinion of the Kodak, as I am sure it is a fine camera. The convenience factor, coupled with the low price, is what makes this X60 deal hot. It's really just like that commercial for the Sony camera with Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Sometimes you just need a camera that's instantly available, and the X06 provides that as well.

hmmmmm, wish there were a few more reviews out

Look at the reviews for the X50...this should be essentially the same except Minolta usually does well with improvements....
if it is anything like the X50 or even the Xt it will serve its purpose better than about anything out there in the price range. I have 2 friends with the X50 -- both love it. and my daughter has a Minolta Xt and has taken it all over the world. It takes fine pictures but the convenience factor is the key. She always has it with her and it takes much better pics than her cellphone.

Are you retarded? You think the X60 is invisible? That plastic piece of sh!t Kodak was built with every cost savings technique known and it shows.

As far as I'm concerned you need only two types of cameras. An SLR for serious photography and a small point and shoot of quality construction and compact size to take to places where you can't or won't take the SLR. All these medium size plastic in between cameras are just a bad compromise between the two and the only reason to buy them is to save money if you're broke. If such a plastic POS were to cost the same as a well built compact metal body camera then buying the latter would be a no brainer.

quoting dave "The G600's simple user interface should appeal to a wide audience, from novice to experienced pro, particularly since it offers full manual exposure control as an option for advanced users. All controls are smooth, with fast zoom and easy menu navigation. The LCD is unusually bright, with excellent contrast and daylight viewability. All in all, a nice little digicam.

the thing is a tank, all metal, very small, great HEXAR lens - excellent photos

Very High, 60-megapixel CCD
"Very High", indeed!

I've ordered from Butterfly Photo and give them the highest seller rating possible.
Their customer service response was simply, "Yes, we will do that" and it was done with dispatch. Great people to deal with IMHO.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the Kodak is a "POS," but I do agree that its versatility is hampered by its size and somewhat suspect construction. BUT, not everyone can afford both an SLR and a quality compact. Most people can only reasonably justify spending money on one camera, and they want a good price on it at that. The kodak probably does have a little better image quality, and maybe more manual controls, and could be an excellent choice as a person's sole camera.
