Hotswapping network cables

Nope, nothing bad will happen, it just looses connection, and when you put it back it regains connection. Nothing will be damaged unless you do something wierd that I can't even think of. Should be able to plug and unplug ethernet cables as you wish.
 
a friend of mine was swapping his keyboard once. Shorted out his abit it5h rev 1.5. Something like that i guess could happen. that board sucked though, and i'd doubt it could happen more than 1 in a million times on a network card.
 
If you are talking about ethernet, nothing will happen. And if you plug the cable back in within a minute or so, you won't even lose connection.
 
Certain types of connection, namely ethernet, SCSI and USB are designed to be hot-swapped. There should be no damage caused from hot-swapping such devices.

Most other things, such as keyboard, mouse, parallel or serial ports could potentially be damaged. I'll admit though, that I've done this occasionally, and never damaged anything.
 
Whoo! Nice to know, I was hotswapping my bro's connection to our net, he was being an ass, as the router his computer is connected to is in my room. 😉
