HOTROD 66 and/or Abit on-board UDMA/ATA 66 controller...Do I need it?

Greetings,

I am using an Abit KA7 with a Maxtor 30 gigger...all is running well 49 m/sec...this software is available at the Abit site under the download section...do I need it? I was thinking with a name like HOTROD 66, maybe I could get the numbers closer to 66 =)

Also, seems like a waste to download that new ULTRA 100 is I can;t even achieve closer to 66, no?
 
thanks...thought maybe it's a utility that speeds up the throughput =)


...Is it the rpm's that are holding me back from gettint closer to true 66? I am cranking out 49 m/sec right now according to this HD Tach
 
It could well be but I have the same rpm speed as you and I'm getting get 58.8 mbps and an average seek time of 9.5 so it sounds as though it might be something different. Time to defrag your HD!!
