Hotmail keeps saying my attachments have a virus.

So I thought, ok what's the chance of a jpg file having a virus? I ran the online mcafee (which is the same company MS uses) to detect for a virus on my comp. It found nothing. Dito for zone alarm, and pandasoftware. None of them found anything, so why does twatmail keep doing this?

So you compose an email, and you attach a photo of your kid, and Hotmail says the .JPG has a virus and rejects it? Am I on the right track there?

that's exactly it!

Huh 😕 Try emailing one using another provider, do you have gmail or anything? Send me one if you don't mind, so I can try a scan with a couple other tools here: t_m_c_f_a_d_d_e_n@omnicast.net (minus all the underscores).

What antivirus do you regularly use at home, what brand and version (eg McAfee VirusScan 8.0, Norton Antivirus 2004, Grisoft AVG Free Edition or whatnot)?

I tried gmail and it sends fine 🙂

I don't use antivirus at home. I'll send you one though (pic).

OK, sent with gmail! hotmail says it's a bad file.

I think Hotmail is on drugs 😛 What virus in particular does Hotmail claim to be finding, anyway?

It surprises me that you're not running any antivirus software after that run-in you had with the malware a while back. If you need something free, Grisoft AVG Free Edition is better than nothing.

It just says "virus"; nothing mentioned 🙁

Thx I may check that out, but with all the anti-spyware I've got for now, at least, I've been good in that department 😀

Perhaps it's detecting a potential GDI+ Exploit in your images. If you want, upload one of them to a server, PM me the url, and I'll use Sygate to detect the exploit. If nothing shows up then hotmail is on crack (or maybe withdrawing from crack?).
