He must have misread something. From the link in the OP:

New to MSN Hotmail?

...Send & receive e-mail from any Web connection. With a huge 250MB inbox* and the ability to send up to 10MB files or photos.

*250MB inbox available only in the 50 United States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Eligible Hotmail users will first receive 25MB at sign-up. Please allow at least 30 days for activation of your 250MB storage to verify your e-mail account and help prevent abuse. Microsoft Corporation reserves the right to provide 250MB inbox to free Hotmail accounts at its discretion.

I love Hotmail.

In the old days you could check Hotmail in your Outlook Express. They did away with the feature, but I have 3 accounts "grandfathered" in.

Still works for me.
I have an old account too!

I think hotmail must up your inbox size again after you've had it for a certain amount of time because I have an account that was upped to 2GB a while ago.

Works with Outlook 2003 also...only for accounts that have been grandfathered in though...which is definitely the only reason I still use hotmail.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird to check my gmail... not hard at all to do.

ever since hotmail upped 250MB from 10MB i didn't check my emails as often cuz no need to delete junk mails. now if they're 2GB i guess i'll check my email once a month. and yes for some reason im one of those who dont use email anymore lol.

BLEH, Gmail supports POP3 all the way, you can check your e-mail from any e-mail client, not just OE.

hotmail = spammail, nothing new.

Use gmail. I've used it since launch and barely scratched the surface of it:

You are currently using 279 MB (10%) of your 2702 MB.

danny~!
