Hotmail blocked at work... anyway around it?

Change jobs?

Ok, first of all, I'm not risking my job. The problem is that my MSDN account is tied to my hotmail account, then I have all these subscribed to dev. mail lists through hotmail. The network admin said he would take care of it, but with the way things work around here, that means after a long time. I was just asking if there was any way around it so that I don't have to go begging at the dumb guys desk everyday...

Just keep bugging him. Circumvention of security mechanisms can get you fired and or prosecuted.

Hey dude, my horoscope is SO important...

Ive seen some progs that allow "pirvate' surfing ..ie some thumb drive prog. Works?, i know not. seems like the ip going to be allowed or denied through the server/vpn tunnel (wot eva, Im a noob) ... i dunno. Hotmail is my trash account.

Dude,

I use to work for a company and blocking webmail and other stuff is my job. Depending on what filtering apps that are using, you can do a dns lookup to see if there are any new IP address for hotmail. Most of the time big companies have more then one IP address for their websites. If you are lucky, their might be one that is still open. As for VNC, if they are blocking hotmail, I doubt the ports for VNC are open, especially outbound. Another options is have hotmail forward mail to you work email account for all the MSDN emails it received. Since you are a developer, you can VNC/PCanywhere/Terminal services to a server and check your mail on the server. A lot of companies doesn't block port 80 on servers cause it needs to go out and get patches.

Serious companies should be blocking all outgoing connections from their servers. Atleast any server that this is possible for. Obviously it would be tough for mail servers.
