Hotmail Acct size policy

1st of all. I hardly use my hotmail acct since it SPAM happy

1. Account Size Critical: You may not be receiving all of your messages. Messages that would push your account over the storage limit are being returned to the senders. Delete messages to reduce the size of your account or Get Extra Storage


2. So I figure what the heck, I will just let it pile up and maybe the spammer hopefully remove my email addy from their db. (all of it was spam anyways)

3. Well I was wrong Hotmail (Hellmail) just goes and deleted the oldest message first in the inbox and you will continue to get spam.. Whatever happened to hotmail return to sender.


FYI . Pc Magzine did an article say that MS is too cheap to pay 100K/yr to sign up for black list in which it will filter out spam..

I wouldn't recommend anybody sign up for hotmail. It is my primary account and I've been using it for years and thus I cannot change because people who may not contact me for months on end have the address.

However their spam is absolutely unforgivable. I woke up one morning to find out that the 2 megs in my inbox had been full from several hundred emails from the same person each that were 7k in size. I can't remember what this group was trying to sell. Anyway hotmail can't even identify a simple email bomb (in this case I think it was merely whoever was in charge of sending out that particular spam had no idea how to do it). I can't go above low on the spam filter because otherwise I may lose out important emails I want.

My reco: NOBODY SHOULD BE SIGNING UP FOR A NEW HOTMAIL ACCOUNT!

ya know, i have had my hotmail account for about 4 years, and have never had a huge issue with spam. I get maybe 6 a day, and they are always in my junk mail box. Could it be because i signed up for it so long ago?

I tried the same thing. Like you said, it doesn't work. My spam account has about 983 messages in the inbox.

Skoorb, I'm not sure I agree with you entirely. A second account that I've been using the past year or so only gets a few spammails a week.

Nope I've had mine at least as long. A guy at work I swear gets MORE email than me and his account is new. I think much of it has to do with the name you pick. Since these auto spammers just make up names in a systematic way I'd like to know if a name like 100923lsdll222i3lls@hotmail.com wouldn't get much spam.

So what .... Hotmail made that policy and broke it ... therefore I have a legimate complaint.

spam is precisely why i keep a hotmail account. i use it as the email address when signing up for stuff i'm not sure of.

because of this i get about 20x more spam on my hotmail address than all my other addresses combined. that's fine with me.

No since I had it as about as one as you can since get lots of spam and they are not delivered to Junk folder
