Hi all,

Has anyone realized since Microsoft released Outlook Live, MSN Plus that HTTP mail access of Hotmail through Outlook 2002 XP sucks?

It's always timing out, even when you force a re-connect to your Hotmail account, some messages download some do not! It never used to be this bad, is Microsoft making it this crap so we are forced to upgrade?

I have a secondary Gmail account and it comes with POP and 2GB for Free! Are Microsoft crazy or what .... ?

Any idea's for tweaking HTTP mail access in Outlook 2002? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

James

AFAIK, older Hotmail customers have Outlook access grandfathered in, while new users will need to pay for access going forward.

And yes, mcjimbo, Hotmail connectivity has been EXTREMELY flaky as of late.

When you say grandfathered, what sort of dates are we talking... an account since 200x?

I got this email message back in February:

Dear MSN Member,

Recently, Hotmail® announced that in order to improve customer experience and reduce spam and junk e-mail abuse on MSN® services, Hotmail will no longer allow new e-mail accounts to be accessed via Microsoft® Office Outlook® and Outlook Express.

We are pleased to inform you that because you are an existing and valued customer, at this time your current Hotmail and MSN account(s) are exempt from this restriction and you will be able to continue enjoying access to those accounts from Outlook or Outlook Express. However, any new Hotmail or MSN accounts you create will not be accessible via Outlook or Outlook Express.
