Here's a follow up to my trip. This site is the real deal, started bidding on restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale for my dad. He's 82, can't use the computer too well. When you enter a successful bid you can edit who the certificate is for and where it is to be mailed.

I just returned from Florida and used five of their certificates with no problem at all. One of the hotels was absolutely thrilled that I used them. Both gave me poolside rooms and one upgraded me to have a fridge and microwave. All I paid was the bid price, plus incidentals. Here's a review of my savings.
2 Nights Holiday Inn = $63
This was a steal at a three-diamond AAA property. All I paid for was local calls, which was a whopping $3. Cheapest rates on the net were at $60 + a night
2 Nights Travelodge = $42
A two-diamond AAA property with a nice pool and bar. Minutes from Universal Studios and seconds from International Drive. They even didn't charge me for incidentals which every other customer had to pay around $2 a day extra. Net prices were around $40 a night. I walked out of there not paying a penny to the establishment.
$40 certificate to Jungle Jims for food and drink = $22.50 for a savings of $17.50.
$25 certificate for Bennigan's ( specific location only) for $12.50 = $12.50 savings.
$25 certificate at an Italian Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale for $12.50 = $12.50 savings.
The only blips in the process were I had to fax the cert to the Travelodge before making the reservation. That took a minute and everything was fine. Jungle Jims made me sign the cert, but the waiter was a space cadet.
If you are planning an Orlando trip you can really save an enormous amount of money using this site. They also have auctions for the South Florida region as well. My wife is already planning next year?s vacation and said maybe we will stay an extra week down there. Certs are good from 2 to 6 months so read the details before bidding. Email support is great and fast.
