Haha This deal is such a waste of money. I bought mine for 150 or so couple of months ago and now Blu Ray has already won the format war with more than 90%, I feel like I wasted my money.

I wouldnt consider hd totally dead, their new strategy is to sell hd players as 100-150 upconverting dvd players, with hd play back thrown in for free.

So yeah 80 bucks for this is still no good, when you can get standalones for ~100.

and blu ray hasnt exactly won anything, they can still die as a format. Its just hddvd has a much higher percentage of dying earlier.

 
Blu ray hasnt won yet, check amazon for player and movie sales are bouncing back for HD DVD. HD DVD players are their #1 selling hardware

Paramount and universal , dreamworks, weinstein, still control a big portion of the market
