Dell Small Business has up to 30% off on storage. The Western Digital 250GB 8mb buffer 7200rpm hard drive is going for $130 shipped after rebate.

1. http://www.dell.com to go to Dell Small Business.
2. Search and Add A0158102 ( Harddrive : $249.95 )
3. Automatic Discount : -20%
4. Rebate Price : -$70.00
Final Price : $129.96

Weird - I'm trying to do this and the price shows as $199 on the page before I add it to the cart. I add it to my cart and it goes to $249. I try signing in and it gives me $5.50 off for the free shipping but doesn't change the price. I'm going to continue trying as it's a pretty sweet deal if it works out.

Doh, placed my order on 2/15 at ~9am and just got this e-mail:

DOHHH! Anyone know what the rebate conditions are? I don't even know if I'll qualify for the rebate if it ships that late (not because of purchase date but because of Postmark date!)

EDIT - GRRR, I found out that the postmark date for the rebate is 03/27/2004!!!!! That means the drives would arrive about a week or so late assuming I get it mailed out on 03/31/2004! Dammit!

---

EDIT 2 - Spoke with the Western Digital Rebate Center (1-866-327-8352 incase you wanna bug them), and they said they wouldn't guarentee that they'd honor the rebate if I mailed it in late because of Dell.

Spoke with Dell Customer Service AND Dell Sales and neither of them would help ... Best I got was to wait a week incase they get more stock. Lovely.

Will keep an eye out, but the Maxtor FDB 250gb HD from Outpost.com for $150 after MIR is sounding mighty tempting!!!!

I called dell today (800-289-3355 extension 68938) and they told me that they could not just give me the credit for the MIR, however they said if it was shipped out so that I would not receve it before 3/27, they would refund my $70. Give it a shot, it can't hurt!

I got the same response in an e-mail from them (they'd process the credit if I missed out on the rebate). Very happy about this 🙂

anyone else that has this drive: does it constantly make a very high pitch sound (like a dog whistle would)? I hope this isn't normal but would like to know if its warranty worthy before putting too much stuff on the drive.
