There are about four threads going on this right now, and so far, all of them are full of hypothetical price matches.

This is a great deal, of course, but whether or not anyone can actually GET this deal is a different matter.

It seems like anice deal if everything comes through. We need to get both the rebate and the PM before the deal becomes warm. Even if we get only one of the two money back options then the deal is no good at all. So it seems a bit like a risky deal to me. Whats the one about dell guys. I see that dell is selling the same drive for 204. But I dont see an 20% off coupon. If anyone has this then let me know.

I'd help you out kulki but the mods on this group are f'ing psycho's and they'd stretch my sphinchter so bad I'd sh1t on my own head.

Oh boy! Hot deal on a big hard drive!

*Please no pricematches with rebates, please no pricematches with rebates...*

Ugh.

I agree. Blue and MIR would be nice additions to the title. I read about this deal on another site yesterday but decided to get the $188 OEM model at Dell instead.

Just for the record, I had no probs gettin AMEX to do a PM for me for $75 on the 80GB drive... after MIR comes through I will have paid $50 for it.

Just make sure that in any pricematches you do on these drives the site you are PM'ing with has the retail version of the drive... they will not PM OEM version if you buy retail.

I don't have AMEX, but thinking about getting one. How do you price match using AMEX, I don't understand. Is it like doing a price match using a reciept. Thanks

<< I don't have AMEX, but thinking about getting one. How do you price match using AMEX, I don't understand. Is it like doing a price match using a reciept. Thanks >>

No, it's not in store. You call AMEX up after making the purchase, then you fax or mail them copies of your receipt and the dated ad or website advertising a lower price. Then if they approve it, they send you a check.

Since AMEX changed their policy about multiple matches, it's probably best to buy the drive now, then wait 6 or 7 weeks before price matching to maximize your PM. The only problem is, you have to wait for the PM cash back. If you think about it though, that's not as long as most rebates take to get back to you.

These days, I buy almost everything with Blue, just in case I want to PM it later. Blue also extends the warranties on almost everything. There is a limit of 4 PM's A YEAR, so I try to only PM on things that come close to the PM limit ($250 each). This is a borderline Blue PM, even though its $100. I think most deals posted with a $20 or $30 Blue PM don't make much sense. Unless you don't plan to buy anything expensive, you're losing out on $200+ in PM, if you PM for piddly amounts.

This is news to me. My Blue card only allows a 60-day time window.

This is news to me. My Blue card has no such limit.

Does AMEX have different versions of the Blue?

Same as above. Theres a minimum of $10 per claim and they said I could do 100 of those to get to $1000.

^-7 weeks is GOOD time, when price can drop.... 6-7 weeks means 40-50 days approx.

I dont think so either.... unless they changed the policy recently....

And this Maxtor for 165 is where? Search did not bring up anything, and please don't tell me its some deal that you got way back in some day...
