Circuit City has the ATI 9700 Pro advertised in this weeks paper for $399.99 - 50 MIR - 10 IR = $339.99.

If you have a local MicroCenter, you can PM at CC B&M to $319.20.

$389.99 - $319.20 = ($70.80 diff) x 10% = $7.08
$319.20 - $7.08 = $312.12
$312.12 - $50 MIR = $262.12 + tax!

Not too bad for a top of the line graphics card.

Obviously this requires you getting a PM that not all Circuit Citys will allow, so YMMV. But for those with local MicroCenters, this can work. This is B&M only as CC.com will not PM MicroCenter.

I think today or tomorrow may be the last day of the MicroCenter sale, so don't wait.

Did you try this yourself, or just speculating? I would think that CC would PM off of the price AR since the rebate comes directly from them... Just a thought...

you could prob PM after you buy it, let the rebate print out, then go back in 5 mins, or later that day, some other day.. whatever ^^ to PM. if it works for BB, then why not CC also?

I was able to get circuit city to do the price match with micro center. But I did not get the 10% difference. I was not going to complain as the card was not in stock at micro center. My total out the door was $346.38 - $50=$296.38.

but my problem is:
I also got compusa to price match micro center and and got a 9500pro out the door for $189.65 -$20= $169.65

so which card should I keep? Is the 9700pro worth the extra $127? What would you do? I don't do any overclocking. I just want it to play the latest games.

sunday was the last day of the micro center sale. Lets hope the do a new one!!

9700 is worth it if you do 3d cad (softfiregl soon), 4X FSAA, or 1280 and above with all the candy. Otherwise 9500 pro will suit you fine til next product cycle.

I actually got the 9500 Pro from CUSA too, and decided to keep that one. It would be nice to keep the 9700, and have the latest and greatest, but for me it's just not worth the extra $100+.

Unless you are a really hard-core gamer, I think you will be pretty heppy with the 9500. Afterall, you'll have a better graphics card than like 98% of the computers out there.

Is this deal still valid? I thought the latest Micro-Center sale expired yesterday - Sunday 1/26/2003. This was the sale where 20% was being taken off the price of video cards.

Wait for the lastest and greatest card that is able to play Doom III. If you need a card now 9500 is more than enough for most people. Any idea when D3 is out?

I tried to get CompUSA to PM the Microcenter store but the manager wouldn't as all I had was printout of their add and not the actual newspaper ad copy. Kind of pissed me off but as I was in a hurry and was happy to get one (even at $220) since I had $200 store credit, I didn't push it. Now, I might just follow up with a letter, copies, etc., and see what happens. Not holding my breath though....

Wow, just one more post and I hit 100! After "only" three years....

No parades for me.
