;) Ok you can buy one, but you must play some games on it to justify:D Some chump tried to talk me into a different panel and I told him to get educated. This is the best gamer LCD out!

Unfortunately that is all this LCD is good for.
I got the much lower priced 1907FP. Yea yea, it is inferior in terms of response times, but atleast it will probably be better in everything else. (I have the Samsung panel which is the same as the L90D+. Decent for gaming.)

Are you sure this is one of the best LCDs for gaming? I'm looking for an LCD to match up with my shiny new 7900 gt but the resolution on this one seems kinda low, only 1280X1024 and just 16.2m colors? Isn't that a sign of a lower quality LCD ?

I'm having thoughts off canceling my order and buying the dell 1907. In the end I will probably be happy I spent the extra 100.00. I mostly game and do light surfing. BF2 is gonna be sweet! I paid 381.00 tax for california and extra for fedex.

most lcd screens are limited to 1280x1024 res.

16.2m colours does not mean its a low quality LCD. Basically the MS is great ... 2 ?!?! thats amazing. best I've ever seen.. and if from what I believe .. if it has a TN panel it should be good. A samsung panel is a plus too for quality purposes.

It's good deal, too bad I bought a BENQ 19" 8ms, :( and have no money for another one. What a great deal. 320 :(

'edit: the MS rate is pretty much what decides if its a good "gaming" LCd monitor. I myself play CS 1.6 and I cannot bear playing CS 1.6 on my LCD benq 19" (8ms), because I still notice that theres ghosting that I don't get on a CRT. 2 MS might fix the problem, but I'm not sure, it should be the best you can get for gaming purposes.

Another piece of information is that this is a 6-bit panel. It is not capable of creating all the colors that an 8-bit panel can create.

So, to get around that, it does dithering. It means that is shows one color for a while and another for another while and you think that you are seeing something in between.
Or, some of them show different colors on pixels close to each other and that way give you the perception of seeing a color in between.
That's how it can show more colors that what you would expect from only 6 bits.

This is some information about dithering. I have no idea about the particular panel that he is talking about. I am referring to it for the description of dithering.

This thread has lots of good information on LCDs in general, which by the way recommends this LCD.

No, actually, the 2005FP just like the 2001FP sucks a$$ for fast paced gaming. It may do great if you're playing WoW, but pop in UT2004 or something similar and be prepared for blur heaven.

I could of bought a lot of things but I chose the best gaming LCD thats out right now. Don't be jealous because you have a dell. The VX922 will destroy any similar dell in gaming and wide screen gaming still has along way to go. Call me crazy but I like my games to run perfect the way they were meant to be played.

AMEN BROTHER! Some of these people here have been brain washed about dell. If you don't want high end gaming then dell monitors are nice for the price. Some people just have higher standards, like the above poster.

I got to add to this, my dell screen is not that bad, i have never seen any ghosting or experience anything bad on it, at least on gaming, i play FEAR everyday and I ran FRAPS and at 100FPS I cant notice any problems, not even with the VGA cable, however sometimes in movies it shows some refresh rate problems I believe.

well....the thing is, dells are for the money. I've had dell computers for years and watched them dwindle down as the tech support blew ass (like we all dont know? ), which, after helping build a few computers made me decide to list both my laptops up and say " DELL GO TO HELL IM NEVER BUYING ANOTHER COMPUTER FROM YOU EVER"
I got my 2001fp for $550 in 2004 - which was awsome at the time. I'm happy with it and there are absolutely NO dead pixels. However, my dad also got one at the same time, and it probalby is the WORST monitor ever - I'd rather use an old 14" CRT than look at that thing. the ghosting is absoluetly TERRIBLE.

So again... it comes down to the gamble of dead pixels. Buy from somebody who has a good return policy, so if your monitor is trashed, you can exchange or get a new one (say, costcos 1yr return policy.... cash back if you keep your receipt?).

what do you mean widescreen gaming has a long way to go?
I had a 19' widescreen monitor at 8ms and it rocked. Most games support it natively these days as well. Oblivion looked awesome in widescreen.

Would this be better than the Dell 2007fpw for gaming, text reading and other things?
