Article here

It's obviously rumor, but if it is, man does ATI show their experience in the mobile market. 9200 mobility - new mobile version of 8500, faster than FX 5200 go. ATI uses half the power consumption. 5200 can't clock up due to overheating.

Good thing for ATI that the mobile market is the only part of the PC market expected to grow well for the next while.

A couple questions about that article...

1) the test platform is a P4 3.06 with 1gb rdram...
find me a laptop that has that....

2) the 9200 is based on the 8500/9000 series
isnt that only dx8 compatible, how are they running dx9 stuff (3dmark 2003)

i think the numbers will be simialar to that, i think ati will continue to dominate in mobile, but that particular article looks fishy because of the above.

I didn't read the article, but the 9200 is a dx8 part. I believe there will be a mobile variant of the 9600.

Aha... in fact duh... Linky. Knew I read all this somewhere. :)

Ask and you shall receive.

Powernotebooks is the only place that I know of that sells 3.06 GHz notebooks, and they're a fantastic company.

with 1gb rdram?
that laptop has ddr.

also 9200 is based on desktop 9200 and is not a dx9 part.
how is it running 3dmark at a higher score than a dx9 part?
