Hot! Uniden 900MHz cordless phone $9.88 AR at Amazon

Okay, here's the link. There's a link to the rebate form right under the amazon.com price.

Before you buy one of these, I should point out that these phones are pretty low-end and aren't all that great. Unless you need a cordless phone at the lowest possible price and don't care about the quality, I would look at another phone. I really like the Panasonic KX-TG25xx series myself.

I have a Panasonic, and I really love it. It has almost everything you could want in a phone, except for one thing -- no spare battery charger. It's a NiCD battery, so if you store it in the cradle all the time, the battery life quickly drops to nothing. The proper thing to do is to use the phone until the battery dies, then set it in the charger overnight and let it recharge fully. The only problem with that plan is that the battery usually dies when I need the phone for something, and there's no spare battery.

I was researching ways to solve this problem when I used http://www.energizerbatteryfinder.com to find the correct replacement (or spare) battery for my phone. The Energizer-brand replacement batteries cost around $13 in most of the places I found that had them in stock.

When I saw the phone deal on Amazon, I ran the Uniden phone through the Energizer wizard and whaddya know? They use the same replacement battery, the Energizer P-7302. Problem solved!

I ordered one of these Uniden phones. For $9.88 (AR, plus tax, plus shipping) I get a phone that I will never use, a spare battery for my Panasonic, and a way to charge that spare battery. Whichever battery I'm not using will go into the Uniden phone in the charger until it's fully charged. When the in-use battery dies I'll just switch them and keep using the Panasonic. Incidentally, the Uniden comes with a spare charging cradle, so if you aren't going to use the phone for anything it won't take up much desk space as a spare battery charger. 😉

Overall a pretty good deal, especially if you combine it with some other items to get free shipping or you have an Amazon coupon lying around that you can use.

Definitely sounds like a closeout item... only three people have rated it (not very highly), and according to pricegrabber, no other company sells it.... scary (but a cheap price!).

Yeah, I'm sure it's a closeout, especially at that price. But at that price they're great for parts like the spare battery. 😉 Before I ordered I searched pretty hard to see if I could find one for $10 minus the $10 rebate (no luck).

I bought one from amazon.com 1.5 years ago, still using it, no problems, pretty good phone. But it was always around the $20 range.

If you mix this deal with some Amazon codes, this deal is even sweeter.

naughtycodes.com shows these codes (among a bunch of others):

MAPMCEXCLUSV $10 off $75
MAPVEREWARDS $5 off $35 purchase
MAPWNEVALLEY $10 off $75

Have fun.

I have this phone, I bought it from BB for $19 on sale about 2 years ago. I have no complains, it works great, good distance, etc... I am going to pick another up!

thanks for the site, GalaxyQwest... interesting...
but no coupon codes allowed here though so u might want to edit those out. 😉

Welcome to AT by the way.

This looks just like the EXP7900, which was ranked 6th overall, and was a consumer reports best buy in september 1999 (i know, ancient history for electronics). I, too have one of these, and it has been a terrific phone, albeit it has zero bells (well one, since it DOES ring) and whistles. The msrp, as usual is fiction; i don't think it ever sold for more than $45, but even at that it is a bargain for a simple sturdy 900mhz (analog) phone. I think i'll buy me a spare, thanks for the post!🙂
