The rebate *MIGHT* work. The form does say that it's only valid at "participating retail stores," and I don't really know if buy.com qualifies. Anyways, I bought the thing before I even saw the post, and I'm gonna try for the rebate.

Oh yeah, rebate's $50, so if that goes through, then this is a GREAT deal. 8x firewire writer for $50 (after rebate) + shipping (and Tax, if it applies).

Don't forget to add 2% off from ebates, if you're in.

Detailed specs on the drive are here. There's only a 2 MB buffer, but there's burnproof for it as well. (But then again, it's only a 8x writer..do you really need burnproof?)

I bought it mostly cuz I have a Powerbook, and I need to a writer that's compatible with Mac OS.

In any case I can't put it in the shopping cart. Keeps telling me to enable cookies. Tried it with Opera and IE. Same message. I guess the "random number generation algorithm" confused the database or something.

It's a sweet deal with the rebate though.

Tried to add it to the wishlist to see if I could go around the shopping cart and it told me it's sold out!
