- $40 coupon code and you're at $47.98 + tax

Rather thrown together original post, unfortunately. Does appear the $40.00 discount in the original post is in fact a coupon. A bit of cleanup of the original information yields the following (direct product links to OfficeMax.com require a session cookie, and thus a refresh may be required in order for the product links below to function):

Mad Dog MultiMedia Dominator 4-in-1 Drive
Item # 20681870
Rebates valid 8/8 - 9/18 and 8/5 - 9/18, respectively
$59.00 - $25.00 Mfr. Mail-In Rebate (listed first) - $15.00 OfficeMax Mail-In Rebate (listed second) = $19.00

Mad Dog Multimedia Dominator 6-in-1 Internal DVD-R/-RW Drive
Item # 20686205
Rebate valid 8/15 - 9/4
$79.00 - $10.00 Instant Rebate - $40.00 Mfr. Mail-In Rebate = $29.00

Micro Advantage 8x Dual Format DVD+R/RW and -R/RW Drive
Item # 20731380
Rebate valid 7/18 - 8/28
$139.98 - $50.00 Instant Rebate - $50.00 OfficeMax Mail-In Rebate = $39.98

I went ahead and got a few extra things I needed and used a $50 off coupon.

I got, 9 items (including the 3 burners) for $77 After rebates (this price includes tax).

So, I am pleased with the final price for everything that I got. 🙂

Jason

MadDog will deny a rebate for any possible (or spurious) reason, so I'd be a bit cautious about this. I'm leery of any deals where I will feel ripped off if I don't get the rebate.

I ordered the Micro Advantage 8x Dual Format drive Monday evening and it was at my door by Wednesday morning. It helps that I'm 25 miles from a major Office Max distribution point.

Also, there was a pretty good clearance sale on CD and DVD media. A bunch of Fuji media on sale. I picked up (all items listed are straight buy, no rebates):

- 100-pack (two 50-pack bundle) of Fuji 48x CD-R for $15.00
- 25-pack of HP CD-RW for $9.00
- 50-pack HP CD-R for $7.50
- 10-pack Fuji CD-RW for $5.00
- 10-pack Hi-Val CD-R for $1.50

I don't know what's left. Goto Officemax.com > Technology > Clearance

There are more Fuji media deals under Technology > CD/DVD Media and Storage > Fuji CD/DVD Media

A few items were removed from my cart when I checked out because they were out-of-stock, but that is regional so your area may still have them.

Check out the clearance sale on Micro Innovations keyboards (peripherals) - $1.00 each. I bought two each of the Advanta and 2000 models. These aren't the greatest keyboards I've ever used, but they are definitely worth more than a buck. Always good to have an extra keyboard or three handy. 😛

Oh, and I bought two Microsoft PCI Ethernet Adapters for $5.00 each, too. Also under Clearance items. Free shipping most orders over $50.

FWIW, for me, getting the 4X 6-in-1 and 8X for $128-90MIR+tax is a better deal. Two less rebates, and I'm swimming in a sea of CD writers to begin with. Plus, my 40 off 200 (legit no less) coupon wouldn't work, but a 30 off 150 would.

Deal summary

89.98 (8x)
69.00 (4x 6-in-1)
-30.00 (30 off 150)
----------------
128.98
- 90.00 MIR
---------------
38.98 before taxes.

Not too shabby. Thanks karaktu!

cranston, I think you misread the ad. It's not "6x," it is "6-in-1" -- meaning writing CD-R/RW/DVD-R/RW, and reading CD's and DVD's. It is 4X speed for DVD-R, and it doesn't write DVD+R/RW at all.

Where are you finding a $40/200 coupon or link? I've searched all of the likely places and can't find that. I've found $30/150 for phone orders (which apparently are almost always turned down if accompanying an instant rebate), and a $50/250 shopping link.

There is a distinct reason for the lack of response. From the ATHD rules:

"DO NOT post:

Coupon or promotion numbers.
Links to coupon numbers you could not post, here.
Links to scans of coupons other than those listed, above.
Requests for others to post or send you coupon numbers or offers to send them to anyone else.

We may not catch every violation of these rules, but if you post it, and we catch it, your account may be locked without further warning."

I've been a member of AT for 4+ years and am well aware of that rule. It exists to protect the site from any legal liability. What we do is to provide hints to where the discounts can be found -- which does not carry any liability. PM's can also work.

Blatant disregard for the rules does not bode well for anyone. It is unfortunate that in 4+ years you've yet to discover this simple truth.

Quite the humorous guy, aren't you?

I asked where a coupon or link could be found, not for the coupon or link itself. "We" do this all the time. When prompted by your snippy post, I further clarified what I was asking for.

Btw, it's customary on Anandtech to thank people who post helpful deals, esp. those with 2800+ post(!), and then correct or add information as necessary. Your also-snippy post above contains broken links.

Thanks for the help.😀

As stated in above referenced post:

"direct product links to OfficeMax.com require a session cookie, and thus a refresh may be required in order for the product links below to function"

Jees, Orifice Max like a rebate or two don't they?!

You can get a branded 8x NEC ND2500A from Newegg for $60 without the 50% 2x rebate crap, and that can be flashed to a 2510 dual layer.

And note, when they say "dual format" they mean DVD+R and DVD-R, not "dual layer" 8.5Gb

It's just Mad Dog's marketing. They're referring to how many functions/formats it can read/write.

4-in-1 = DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive
6-in-1 = DVD -R/RW drive

I posted the SKUs in my OP. Just click "order by item number" on Officemax's front page and enter the three SKUs. It's faster than clicking each item individually.

If you're a member at www.ebates.com, you can save another 3% on this deal. I got back $6.54, which brings my total down to $53.01 after MIRs. 😀

Beware, I recall a previous OM rebate deal where multiple rebates overlapped.
Customers were NOT entitled to get BOTH of them.
I hope you get them.
Let us know if anyone gets or can verify that we're entitled to get both.

Thanks

These are not overlapping rebates, but separate manufacturer and Officemax rebates. It's pretty common with OMax.
