Sprint PCS recently updated there terms and service in regards to adding a another phone.

If you add another phone (Lets say your spouse to share the same account) you have to extend your contract. Further the 2nd phone will be obligated under a contract.

Since this happened last month you have the option of terminating your service without termination fee. (you have to do this within 30 days) This is stated in the Terms and Serivce portion of the sprint agreement that is posted online once you log into your account.

Your bill is a form of contructive notice

I have verified this with cusomer service and a supervisor and notated my account to have this option.

No you can call the retention dept and renegotiate terms or you can cancel the service and get new service with additonal deals and promotion etc.

Clocker

You dont need to have a 2nd phone added. But you have to argue that you want to add a second phone but since the terms and agreement has changed you wish to cancel w/o being liable for the termination.

This provision is under the terms and agreement at sprints site. Dont refere to the paper copy since the internet copy supercedes all previous documents.

Yeah, could you please explain it a little better...I'm kinda stupid.

I currently have like 2 months remaining on my Sprint contract...so can I cancel without having to pay the termination fee? Or is this only if you have a 2nd phone on your account?

Thanks.

Yes only if you add a second phone. This is no Hot Deal. Why would you add a second phone and then start a new 2 year contract for the 2 phones? LOL Delete this stupid thread.

So many n00bs so little time.

Like the original poster said:

You can use the 2nd phone argument to cancel the contract, there is NO need to add 2nd phone. You'll just have to "pretend" that you wanted to do so, but since they changed their TERMS you can cancel your current contract.

Exactly, Sparticus is right, Teezle is incorrect. You do not have to actually add a second phone, you just have to show intent to add another phone. Since Sprint changed the contract, they are giving you a way out if the change materially affects you.

Actually, you could (and may still be able to) cancel without a fee since they just ADDED a new fee to "recover" the cost of number portability. Since this is a change in your overall subscription fee (it's not a tax, it's a fee) you can cancel on the basis of "I don't agree to the new terms". They can they either (a) let you cancel without penalty, or (b) remove the fee (which they are not doing). Check out the usenet archives on google or a direct link to one possible thread is here

I'm still trying to figure out what the old terms and new terms are, and how they are different. According to Sprint's terms and conditions, #9 they were "effective June 1, 2003 until replaced." They make no comments about a second line. Can someone clarify what exactly the old and new rules were?

Rules are always amended and are dynamic and favor Sprint. The Terms and agreement can change without your consent and because of this you have the option to cancel. When rules change notice is given (whether you read it or not does not matter) in small print to regarding changes.

Hopefully this helps,

I don't believe it. I want to see how many of you can "pretend" to get a second phone and then say you want to think about it? LOL I bet your ass Sprint will charge you for cancelling. So basically Clocker is saying agree "temproraily" to a second phone, pay the charges (if any) to do it, then cancel it?! LOL

Yes, I know they change, but in order to cancel, I'd need to show them that something has changed that I will not accept. I know you're talking about adding a second phone, but what exactly is different now that I could base a cancellation on? Thanks for the reply.

look i already have the option notated on my account to cancel since i argued the provision. it works

you dont have to add a second line just state that you dont agree with the terms since it does affect you adversely for any future decisions you make. on your line.

thats pretty much it.

you dont add the second line at all.

The terms and agreements have changed and that is what you disagree with.

I think you're missing my point. I KNOW that you don't have to add a second line. You just tell them that you don't like the new terms. What ARE the new terms? What were the OLD terms?

I replace my phones from sprint probably once every 3-6 months. And each time I do it, they always tell me how I have to pay an activation fee, which I dont agree to, so they waive it, but the new thing is, they say I have to renew my contract because I am replacing a phone on an existing account! Now, I loved Sprint up till now. The service has always been great for me, but if they are going to start renewing my contract everytime, I upgrade my phone, then theres no reason for me to stay anymore.

50% of the world are idiots
the other 50% takes advantage of them.

we should start another forum for teezle and his "special" friends.

People have found easier ways of getting out of thier contracts and that is for almost any carrier. Sprint right now is charging you for number portability (which does not come into effect until Nov). People saw this on their bills and called up Sprint and got them to let them out of their contracts because of this. People have done this with other carriers that have been charging for this service that does not exist yet. This is a violation of the contract and it lets you out of it.
