These cost $69 to $79 at most places. I ordered one to use late at night. I run my tv through my stereo
and it wakes people up even on the lowest setting.

I'm not even sure what this does. It only controls a tv? is it only sony brands??? the mono speaker seems kind of silly (why not just use the TV speaker?) yes you can plug in the earphone ... but there have been deals for the 900mhz STEREO headphones for around this same price (AR) every few months, and they don't require a line of site like infrared does.

Still not a good description, probably delibirate because it looks cool, but does not do anything besides control your tv (sony only ?) . Probably sounds tinny.

It looks to me like something you will use to add a remote control to a standard TV (w/o remote, rare nowdays) plus some more features.

Keep in mind, this isn't the $100-$200 model with a touch screen pad.

One device attaches to your TV, and broadcasts to the other device, which has both a mono speaker and an earphone jack. You can watch TV without disturbing others with the sound.

It also functions as a TV only remote control.
