Damn, that's a good price! I have this camera, purchased last December for $700, and it's terrific. The only downside is the price of Memory Stick Pros (can use the older ones, but they're slower). I bought a 256MB MS-Pro, and that's adequate for me.

Now wishing I'd waited... (not really, I've taken over a thousand pictures with it)

WTF is "slow" about the original memory sticks? I've shot over 18GB of images with those sticks and have no complaints what so ever! They upload from the camera several times faster than the compact flash would upload from the S50 I had.

No way I'd let the minor issue, of the small extra cost of memory media, stand between me and such an awesome camera!

May want to read the following in the original post (which, btw, should not be included in this thread. links to coupons such as that is verboten):

The F717 is the first Sony digicam to take advantage of the faster MSP...that's what he is refering too.

Relax a bit dude. You're always so defensive when Sony gets brought up.

"You're always so defensive when Sony gets brought up."

I'm perturbed about consumers buying into the hype of "faster memory". Under what circumstances would the photographer even notice the difference, short of some kind of benchmark program?

Edit: Oops, it just occurred to me today, that anybody who shoots in TIFF mode, would appreciate the faster memory... VERY MUCH! Sorry, my mistake.
