wow.. i bought this for $700 from sears pricematching online store.

Nice cam.
Indoor shot is not very good, but if you want good indoor/low light shots you need to get 3ccd cam which cost 2x more.

rebate?

can we get some new technical comparisons? I have no clue about camcorders, hence, very reluctant to spend on this, - maybe thinking that it might be wiser to wait for black friday...

can somebody help compare prices to some other camcorder deals we have had before please?

buy directly from for $760 with free shipping. Click on "get the best price". This is a nice camcorder that has still image, nightshot, good review.

I think the $100 rebate is for Amazon purchase only. wouldn't it be the better deal?

the TRV27's offered by amazon were sold out. the ones you see now is offered by jandr through amazon which do not qualify for $100 rebate. that's why you don't see the $100 rebate offer any more.

I don't think any of you realizes HOW HOT THIS IS! Even with a sears pricematch you are not going to come close. OMG!

Sorry for not editing. I want to reply quickly. Anyways, it seems that the OP might have made a mistake. If you do a google search, you can find the $100 rebate and it's only if you buy a Vaio notebook. Did anyone else notice this or was this a straight $100 MIR?

here is the link for the free tripod, bag, and lense cleaner kit click here

bit is right.. a few days ago when i first saw this, the rebate was still offered... i missed out on this deal, and since i've been waiting a month or so now to get this exact camcorder..i'm pretty upset.. retail on this is 999.99 and its hard to find a price much lower than 899 or so..

yeah, change the title, the $100 rebate was only good if you bought the vaio computer...I researched this last month...I still got it for $750..

It's here for $674, but I know NOTHING about this online retailer. I can't find any reseller rating on them and the domain name was only registered in Feb 2002 YMMV but let us know if you try them out, their prices are hot 😀

yeah you can always find it much cheaper..but can you trust the company....

Looks like you can still get a deal for this camcorder through Amazon. Under more buying choices, click on the Used & New link. You will now see that you can buy it through Amazon with the $100 mail-in rebate. However, the price has gone up to $809.94 before $100 rebate... $709.94 is an excellent price for this camcorder from a reputable store.

Here is a list of Sony Authorized Internet Dealers

I recently bought a Sony DCR-PC120BT from www.onecall.com. Just another option for those thinking of buying a camcorder. Onecall doesn't have the free tripod and stuff but you can get the TRV-27 for $759 shipped (3 day Fedex) and even upgrade to overnight shipping for only $17.60 more and they have very reasonably priced extended warranities. They also have great customer support, they called me the day after I received my camcorder to see if everything had arrived and I had no problems with anything.

I picked one up from Digital eTailer in early October for $730 shipped. Great Camera, basically the same as the TRV25, but with a bigger LCD screen. I checked www.pricegrabber.com and www.bizrate.com and found a reasonable price and checked the retailer feedback. Looks like the price jumped. Stop4Camera is NOT Bizrate customer certified (like they list on their site). These sites have good ratings...

Click For Digital $739 + $25 s/h
Digital eTailer $748 + $25 s/h

Some places sell grey market cameras with no US warranty. Others won't have it in stock unless you purchase high priced accessories. Check it out first.

Not a bad camera but pretty poor under low light conditions. I prefer the Panny DV852 which sells in more or less the same price range.

Just curious, but why do you consider $759 and $1100 in the same price range?

Anyway, another thing to consider when buying a digital camcorder is the size of the camera. I prefer one that fits comfortably in a fanny pack like the Canon ZR30/45 type bodies or the Sony PC120. I can't recommend Canon's though - the only reason I bought the Sony is that my Canon ZR30 crapped out on me!! Anyway, I would go to an electronics store and actually hold the camera before ordering - the TRV-27 is too big for my personal taste. It takes nice video for the price though according to most reviews.

Actually the 852 can be had cheaper than $1100. I've seen them between $850 - $1000. But, you're right, you'd battle to find one for $700 just yet.

The cam is really far superior than the Sony and is worth the extra$. Imho this is the best single ccd cam out there.

Hey,
I'm also looking for a new camcorder for a gift. I have very little knowledge of their specs and functions and a 1500 budget for a digital model that will be used for family filming etc... It has to be well made and take good videos. Budget can be flexible.

Anyone have suggestions on a camcorder to check out? Or a link to a good review site to learn more about them?
Thanks
