Sony SDM-S81/ B At eCost. Add to cart, it should show up as $799 (although the actual page lists the price being $942). Then use Sony $100 off monitors rebate.

Anyone know how this monitor compares to the KDS Rad-X series for gaming? The KDS Rad-5 I looked at was pretty flawless, and if this monitor is even almost as good, I'm all over this deal !

total response time is 30 ms. So this isn't the best monitor for gaming. But visual quality is excellent, what you'd expect from Sony. Check the specs on the sight, overall is pretty impressive.

From techbargins:

Sony 18 LCD, May 1
Back on. eCOST has the Sony SDM-S81 18" LCD Flat panel 1280x1024 400:1 contrast for only $799 - $100 rebate = $699 shipped free. Click Buy Now to see lower price. Ecost is an authorized dealer. $841 is lowest price in search. (Thanks Jose)

Update: Dell Home has it for $964.95 - 10% coupons = $868 - $100 rebate = $768 shipped free, no tax.

Update: Looks like rebate only works through select outlets that do not include ecost. <----- see this

And THIS is the scummiest part of the deal with e-cost:

Handling Fee

We charge a "handling fee" on most transactions in order to help cover our warehousing, order processing, systems and overhead costs. This fee also includes a very small profit on the transaction and is calculated at Checkout based upon your order size.

We apply the fee to each order as follows:

Total Product Fee

$0.00 - 50.00 $2.95

$50.01 - 100.00 $5.95

$100.01 - 200.00 $7.95

$200.01 - 300.00 $9.95

$300.01 - 400.00 $11.95

$400.01 - 500.00 $13.95

$500.01 + 2.4%

It's only about $20 more, but I hate add=ons like this.

I would get in on this deal, but I don't think this one has DVI. :( I'm still waiting to see about the ViewSonic deal too, so I'll hold off for a little while anyway. ;)

This is a repost and Ecost is not athorized retailer for Sony rebates.

The rebate only replies to few B&M retailers.

Rebates

Rebates restricted to purchase from "participating retailers" or "authorized retailers" are valid only on purchases of the applicable product from the following:

USA Retail Locations:

Best Buy
CompUSA
Fry's Electronics
MicroCenter
Office Depot

You wont get your rebate.

I read through the other post and I read through this one and I still am not sure if ecost is an authorized dealer. Has anyone actually called the sony to verify if ecost qualifies? If not, I'll probably give them a ring tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys.

You are half right and half wrong. Yes, this is a repost, but eCost is Sony's authorized internet retailer. I called Sony to confirm this.

Well, I passed last time, and should pass again this time. I'll wait for a good deal on 17"or above LCD with DVI.
