How's the quality on these? It looks very similar to the Panasonic, and those are some of the best phone out there. Looks can be deceiving though...

I bought a cordless at Best Buy today for $4.99 + tax ($1.65) after MIR of $15. Northwestern Bell, big buttons, 900 MHz, pretty much the usual feature set, as I make out. I have it charging now. It was in their newpaper insert Sunday.

I read two comments on this phone.One said it had too many issues with static and range.Another said battery life was an issue, but ymmv as thats only 2 opinions.Some will be happy at this price that it works at all im sure...

I'm debating whether to return my Northwestern Bell cordless for $6.64 after MIR (up in thread 2-3 posts). It's a bit on the heavy side (8 oz.). Other than that, no serious issues off the bat. In a thread I started on it people are crapping all over it, though. They say the Bell phones are a POS. I'll keep my eyes open for a better idea and can return by 1/16 for full refund at BB, I presume. Smith Corona used to be known for their typewriters, AFAIK. Don't know WHAT they do now.

My phone arrived yesterday well packed and in good shape. Seems to work well. The reception was good at about 150 yards or so (out to our mailbox), as there was no static on it at all. The only down is that the volume could be louder. Even when turned up all the way it is still a little on the soft side.

There is an intercomm between the base and handset, instead of just a page, so that you can talk from handset to base. Also has an alarm clock built in, which is kind of weird for a phone.

Great for $10 delivered.

I got the Panasonic KX-TC1703B at Officemax.com a few weeks ago. It's $10 more now, but still worth it, IMO. Not only has CID, but handset speakerphone! THAT's the feature that I like. The CID I won't be using. LCD display is cool. The system for storing numbers is complex compared to 1, 2, 3... 10, like my ATT if you can remember the assignments, but if you can't (like me), it works fine.

I received my phone a week ago and so far it sux.. Very bad voice quality, and a click I here every 15 seconds or so.. Makes m think my phone is being tapped. I guess you get what you pay for and $10 doesn't get you much.. Spend a few more dollars and get a real phone..

As for difference in spec., Smith Corona phone is DSS unlike the Panasonic.
