Well... he did break his back.

Dude spent a million bucks to set this thing up and didn't even make it 1/4 of the way across. His car disintegrated off the ramp. His parachute didn't deploy correctly. He broke his back. What an idiot.

The only thing he got right was hitting the ramp.

No, his parachute probably saved his bloody life. The car started to flip over and broke up almost as soon as it cleared the ramp. The parachute was probably a safety mechanism that actually worked.
