Hot ram?

I have some G. Skill memory (2x 2gb) and and an e6400. I overclocked my CPU to 3.2ghz without a a hitch and it even maintains a decent temperature. I have my RAM set to run at exactly 1000mhz with default timings (5-5-5-15), but it's running EXTREMELY hot. I don't have any temperature gages, but it's so hot that it hurts when touched after 10-15 mins of running Orthos.

Should I get a RAM cooler to remedy the problem, or should I not worry about it? I haven't touched the RAM voltage so I should be fine, right?

Maybe you can try manually adjusting the RAM Voltage to, say, 2.0V. Sounds like a similar case with my Ballistix Tracers PC8500, even when I set it to run at 800MHz with 1.9V, it's too hot to touch, couldn't touch it for more than 2 secs. And that was just sitting idle.

Then I changed the RAMs to Corsair Dominator PC8500, only then the RAM is warm to the touch, even at 2.0V. My Tracers were unable to run more than 2.0V, or it will corrupt the desktop in a matter of a minute after booting to the desktop.

PS: Probably this should have been posted under "Memory and Storage" category 😉
