Outpost has the VIVI 32MBDDR RADEON

I am a die hard nVidia freak, and I got my Radeon through the Best Buy deal, I still cant believe how good the 32bit looks... It performs so well that I put my Geforce DDR in my old computer...

So please restrict your comments on this thread. The last thing I want to see is how all you Geforce2 owners ranting about your 16bit performance under blah, blah, blah...

Oh, and for some reason, the rebate form is listed on the sight and is only applicable for Oupost.com...

Yet 169 IS the list price, so I guess the rebate form is there for no reason. If someone figures why its there please post it.

Thanks, and God bless

I would love to get one. But until ATI gets off their ass and make some decent Win2k drivers, I think I'll stick with my V2k.

I always assumed video in video in. I'm pretty sure that VIVO means video in video out.

This looks to be a great deal. Same card is $226 at Onvia. PriceGrabber shows this as the lowest price available, and you can't beat the free shipping.

I just got this from Outpost. Free next day shipping (mine even arrived on a Saturday after I ordered Friday!) and no tax. $169 is a hell of a deal. Great video card that is a better *overall* card than Geforce 2 IMO, especially when you take price/performance into consideration. The picture quality is signficantly better on the Radeon. Some people have reported being able to overclock this card higher than the 64 MB radeon. I haven't tried yet but that would make it an even better deal.

agreed, I love my radeon enough to send my geforce to side duty. I think that the 2d is exceptional.

Can someone explain what the rebate form is doing on that page?

No, really. I think that the Geforce2 IS the best video card on the market. The only problem is that NO video card should sell for 250 dollars!

Think about it. The CPU and motherboard is so much more powerful and comprehensive (as far as technology is concerned), and yet most good setups cost less than 200 dollars. I think video card manufacturers are ripping people off blind.

And we are fueling their fire by snatching up those Geforce2 cards. I think that ATI is producing an EXCELLENT card, and selling it for 150 - 170 is realistic and appreciated.

Is this an OEM or retail version, because all the rebate says is, not for OEM product, if there is a UPC on the box perhaps the rebate will work?

I posted this deal earlier last week and got blamed for reposting. This is probably the 3rd time I saw this posted.

outpost has this card in its site with vivo..in an attempt to mislead you.
looked at ati site and same part number lists this card as same radeon ddr 32 mb offered at many sites for 170$.if you are like me and looking for tv in tv out this is not the card you are looking for..beware of misleading ads

The VIVI (I think they ment VIVO) must be a misprint. Only the 64MB versions come with video...there is no 32 VIVO available..as far as I know. Regardless...can be had $155 shipped from Buy with $30 off $150 if you can sign up as new user.

Deffinately awesome card though...benches 2nd only to GF2 for $100 less.

Where are you people getting you GF2 GTS prices from????
A GF2 GTS is NOT $100 more, and Price watch is wrong.

I just bought 2 Visiontek GF2 GTS cards last week. 1 for
$144 and the other for $159, and both brand NEW from a
well known online distributor. Link was posted on this
board last week. Sold one of them at e8ay for $182.50
(auction #466394433), which gave me a final cost of $120.50
for the card I'm keeping.

We all know that stuff sold on e8ay is overpriced, and
you can usually buy it cheaper, so if all the GF2 GTS
cards are selling for $175 to $200 there, you should
KNOW that you can get one for around $150, just like I
did. GF2 GTS and Radeon are priced at the same level, so
get the card you want not based on price, but based on
which card YOU feel is the best one for your needs.

The $150 range of GF2 GTS is the 32meg version and OEM.
But, as all the reviews show, they ALL run the same.
You could have even picked one up from the forsale forum
here for $175 shipped, and many were sold there.
GeForce 2 32MB/64MB - $174/$230 Shipped

Although his cards for $174 are as generic as you can get,
with no drivers CD (useless anyway) and no brand markings,
the ones I got for $144 and $159 were full Visiontek marked
with 1 year factory warranty, and the useless driver CD.

from ATI website.

Q2: What configurations will the RADEON? graphics cards be available?

A2: Configurations Available in
RADEON? with 64MB of DDR memory-Video In and Video Out, AGP 4X/2X Retail only
RADEON? with 64MB of DDR memory-AGP 4X/2X Multi-Pack
RADEON? with 32MB of DDR memory-AGP 4X/2X Retail and Multi-Pak
RADEON? with 32MB of SDR memory-AGP 4X/2X Retail and Multi-Pak

so I'm assuming that outpost.com has bought multi-paks, and therefore have no rebate.

btw, ATI is having a limerick contest for a 64 meg RADEON. link is below.

There's no reason to assume these cards are anything but the regular retail version. Outpost doesn't deal in a lot of OEM merchandise, and their product descriptions are usually very accurate (despite whatever "VIVI" means).

The rebate is a joint ATI/Outpost rebate. My guess is Outpost is doing here what it has done on other products in the past, which is to build the rebate into the price to move the product quicker. The rebate for the other ATI cards is $50, but Outpost has dropped its price on this card $110. It's a way to make the price look to be steeply discounted, but without cutting too much off the card (Buy.com is selling the card for only $10 more, and it's rare for Outpost to undercut buy.com in the first place.)

As for the anandtech user selling the g2 mts cards: I'm sure the guy is legit, but I feel better about buying the card from someone like Outpost. If there's trouble, I'd feel better dealing with Outpost.

(I just ordered one of these, by the way.)

Just got mine from Outpost. This card rocks. If you're on the fence, go for it, I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm on a PII (yes II) 450 MHz, and I'm playing Unreal Tournament at 1024 x 768 in 32-bit color mode with absolutely no problems.

Monty, is it VIVO ? Playing Unreal Tournament is not the same as video capture with built in tuner.
