I just picked up a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 30 speakers for $129 plus tax from www.tweeter.com. The cheapest I've been able to find them is for $199 at Outpost.com (then add shipping) or $199 at Circuit City (then add tax and shipping).
They also have the Monitor 60 speakers for $175 each. Outpost.com has them for $280 each.
This company has stores in many states. They are called Tweeters up north and Sound Advice down south.

Get a pair of polk R15s from outpost.com for $50, a pair of Monitor 30s from tweeters.com for $135, and a Dayton Sub from partsexpress.com for $125 and you have a pretty good start on a budget priced but quality home audio system. Just need to find an inexpensive but good center channel speaker...
