I was so mad at PNY when I picked that ram up a while ago.

Okay so way back I picked up PNY optima 512mb PC2700 ram... it was samsung ram, nice.

I picked up PNY optima 512mb PC2700 ram recently and... it was SPEKTEK RAM!

SPEKTEK! WHO THE HECK!? LoL I was pissed. I should've returned it. Spektek is Bestbuy's cheapo ram back there... blah

I picked up one of these a few months back for the same price and got Bravo chips (which I am still puzzling over). Still, it overclocked very well to almost 3200 speeds--not a single error, warning after 72 hours of Prime95 and far too many hours of WolfET. ;)

Question: Does Bravo mean anything to anyone (besides the obvious)?

one big happy family.

I bought one of those from Staples this weekend (should receive tomorrow). Just for the heck of it, I went to see what BB had in those (in terms of chip brands) just in case I get junk and wanted to do a buy and exchange. Three with "BRAVO" chips and a fourth one with an "S" in a diamond...any idea who the "S" chips were (they weren't Samsung)?

Outpost has it for $74.99 with $30 rebate and Staples has it for $79.99 with $30 rebate.

So PM Staples to Outpost, save $5.50 (should cover tax/shipping for most) :)

I've been buying cheap PC2700 512 meg memory (for around $49 AR) in preparation for my new system using my MSI K7N2 Delta motherboard. I just got a Sonata case for it. But anyways, back to the memory.

I bought a stick of PNY PC2700 with Bravo chips. Never heard of the company before. Put it into my Leadtek that already had two 512 meg sticks in. I started getting reboots so I ran memtest86+ on it. I got errors. So, I took it out and no more errors (although I recently got a random reboot) from memtest86+. I'm hoping the memory is good and that my errors were caused by having 3 sticks of 512 megs DDR RAM and that my motherboard is borderline in having all 3 dimm slots filled.

I later bought a stick of PC2700 512 meg with Spectek chips (also for $49 AR) and put it into my Leadtek. Memtest86+ also reported errors. So, I'm back to having only 2 dimm slots filled in my Leadtek.

I also bought 3 sticks of PC2700 512 meg K-Byte memory using Avant chips (another company I've never heard of). I'm planning on using these on my MSI K7N2 board. I hope they are good memory. I took a chance on them -- but I couldn't pass up the $49 AR price. It seems that lately Best Buy has been selling memory for $49 AR every week. Normally I would buy memory from Newegg or something but the $49 AR price was too good to pass.

What you should try is running memtest with only the new sticks in the board, one at a time. Like you said, you/we don't know if your mobo doesn't like 3 sticks or if the memory is flaky.

Some mobos only like DDR 400 with all three slots filled. They'll work fine with 2 slots and even PC 2100, but require 3200+ for all 3.

Agreed...I'd be very interested in knowing if those new sticks were causing the trouble (in which case, mine is definitely going back.)

Don't think this is all that hot personally. Jsut got a matching pair (2x256) of Kingston PC3200 for $56 at best buy on Saturday-- it was $90 minus the 10% coupon = $81- $25 MIR= $56.

And yes, my PowerEgde 400SC is very happy with it. :)

Okay, I'm running memtest86+ with the Bravo chip memory on my other system (ECS K75SA - my Leadtek also has the SIS 735 chipset) right now. I'll let you guys know the results after an hour or so (to go through 1 pass).

Right now, I have both the Spectek PC2700 512 meg stick and the Bravo PC2700 512 meg stick in my ECS K75SA board and it passed through 1 round of tests on memtest86+ without any errors.

Previously on my Leadtek, both of these sticks caused some errors during the 1st round when I used them to filled all 3 dimm slots. Since they both passed without any errors on my ECS, I think it's safe to assume that the cause was my motherboard not being able to handle having all 3 slots filled.

Did you guys try staples,, you could get a better deal from them. $79 - $30 MIR - (10 off $40 coupon)= $39
Or you get 2 stick and use the 30 off 150 coupon , lowing it down to $35 per stick of 512mb.

i tried installing into my new T41 and it isn't being recognized, I hope I didn't get a bad stick.

Anyone hear of any incompatabilities with this ram and certain notebook models? BTW I bought the specktek version.

Staples doesn't do PM on mail-in rebates. I spoke to several CS about it over there and they quote it verbatim.

I tried going to my local Best Buy to pick this memory up but they ran out. So I thought I would go down to Circuit City and they had a similar deal only with Centon chips so I picked one up. 512MB PC2700 for $49 AR + tax.

Don't know anything about this manufacturer, but I figured if there's a problem with it I could always return it.
