I was surfing around looking for a good deal on some memory when I stumbled onto this site Compurun.net which supposedly has Original Samsung (both chips and pcb) DDR 512MB PC2700 DIMMS for $114.33 + shipping (ground looks to be about $11 for 1 DIMM but doesn't increase much for additional ones). Unfortunately, there is no feedback for them on ResellerRatings.com.

So, has anyone had any experience dealing with this company? If this is legit it seems like a pretty good deal. I have sent them an email to try and get a little more specific info on these DIMMS and will post any response I get here. In the meantime, thanks to all of you for sharing your hot deals... they've saved me a bundle (or is that cost me a bundle?) :)

p.s. After getting nothing but housewares and tool offers in my Amazon GoldBox for a long time, I finally got offered the complete second season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer on DVD for around $22! I guess it does pay to continue checking that out everyday!

p.s.s. If anyone has one of those $100 off of $400 dell codes (from the documentation included with a new computer) that they aren't going to use, I promise that I would put it to good use! :) (PM Me)

err...it says only 1 year warranty.

Samsung chips have LIFETIME warranty. Therefore, in conclusion, these are not samsung chips.

Followup: Warning Wil Robinson!
Potentially bad sign, the e-mail I sent to them (at their info address) requesting more specific information on these DIMMS bounced back as undeliverable. I've now emailed their other listed ones and will see if I get a response.

TurtleMan, thanks for the welcome. I've actually been reading the forum for a while but didn't join until I thought I found a "deal" no one else had already posted.

bwass24, I hope your order goes through okay (I'd hate to think I led you astray). Please let me know what happens.

cashman, Doh! I didn't even notice at the bottom that it was a Yahoo store. I actually stumbled onto their site via a search engine. Even being a forum newbie, I should have known better than to post a Yahoo store! :(

gsethi, I wasn't exactly sure what Samsungs warranties are on memory. I had the impression that the chips had a lifetime warranty but the entire module didn't.

Tried going to that site, it asks for a username and password... huh?

[EDIT]: Tried again and now it works... They must have been doing some maintenance or something...

Gsethi, original samsung does not always have a lifetime warranty. I bought original samsung for $68 256mb, with original pcb and samsung sticker with tcb-3 chips with samsung etched on the pcb as well, and it came only with a 3 year store warranty.

I think the whole unit has a lifetime warranty from Samsung (ie. RMAs will go to Samsung) but vendors will be willing to do that for you as a no hassle exchange for the warranty period that they specify. These could be Samsung originals w/ a free 1 yr exchange from this vendor. But it's definitely better to be safe by calling in on Monday.

The best thing to do is to e-mail them! I asked many stores whether or not they carry samsung original. Those that do not e-mail back don't even bother, does that e-mail back either say yes or no, and then u can ask for more confirmation, such as one side, two side, samsung pcb, etc... I e-mailed my local store on whether they had samsung original, and they said yes and then i e-mailed again about whether it was single -sided, and they said yes, and when i went there to buy, voila, original samsung. But word of advice, if you want to oc the f*ck out of this memory, u need vdimm!

Xtasy, can you tell me where you got the single-sided Samsung original? I need one too because my 845G mobo will only take 4 sides of memory in total.

Thanks.

It isn't hot if you plan on overclocking at all... the new samsung chips are horrible overclockers compared to their earlier chips. Some don't overclock even 1 mhz above its rated speed.

Yep I got one stick of old in my comp (256) and one stick of new (256). the old can get up pretty high around 356+, the new is a POS and actually restricts my OCing :(.

docinthebox,
sorry but the store now carries dtl, not ctl. I bought it before the dtl emerged. If you want it anyway, the website is here. I heard the dtl sucks. But all hope is not losed, i also have googlegear samsung ram, which overclocks slightly better than my original samsung. Both sticks were burned in at 2.6 volts and run at 2.5 volts cause that is all i have in my mobo, but after burn in, both can run 400mhz ddr normal, cas 2.5. But the googlegear samsung can boot into windows @ ultra timings, while the samsung can only post at ultra timings.
