For the record: the drive that is linked at Newegg is not the same. That is a 200GB drive, while Frys has a 250GB.
The deal is still going on at Frys until at least 1/8/04.
The Renton Frys has/had a bunch of these drives. Most of their stock was an originally $250 version that came with a combo SATA150/PATA133 PCI card. They had a couple that were originally $280, which included the regular PATA133 PCI card. Same Frys SKUs, same $150 after rebate ($180 before).
I think this is a pretty good deal. Not amazing, but it's nice to see that large capacity drives are coming down in price. plus, it's 7200RPM and 8MB cache.
I also noticed that they had a 250GB external drive for $300 minus a $50 rebate ($250 total). The drive was USB2.0 and Firewire, but only 5400RPM and 2MB cache.
