Hot or Not? FREE PVR software for your tv tuner card. Works with windows media (and can transfer to Pocket PC!).....

Wow, very nice. I'm going to have to try that out. Much better deal then the $199 tv tuners advertised as pvr's.
 
How's this different than the software included with modern TV tuners? No, not flaming, just curious. Couldn't you just select the correct codec and resolution and use it on your handheld anyway? I read around on the site but couldn't find anything special/different.

Edit: To clarify, I was thinking of the Sony Clies my friends have watch videos on. Do you need to use Windows Media Encoder 7.1 encoding profiles to view movies on a PocketPC?

I am not sure how your friends are watching their movies but Pocket PC already supports windows meadia so these videos should play much easier ....... Though I am not 100% sure...
 
Still waiting for one that is like this, but includes live TV features (pause, rewind, etc), and a built in schedule so you can search for shows and it automatically will record all instances of that program (i.e. Season Pass). Hoping to replace my Tivo with my computer someday, but it's not here yet...
 
Another similar software package is Snapstream. In addition to recording to your hard drive and being able to send shows to a pocket PC device, Snapstream acts as a media server, so you can view your shows streamed over a LAN. If you have a fast enough connection, you can stream shows from your PC at home to your desk at work (although I haven't done this).

Just another option to look at.
