Buy.com have the JBL N38 (not the newer N38 II) for $99.xx each, use $10 off $99 coupon (look for it at fw) to bring the total to $90. And there is free UPS ground shipping.

The MSRP for JBL N38 is $2xx EACH, and the shipping alone for this 35lb baby will cost a big deal. You probably can get better price from ebay sellers (I tried so), but $40 - $100 s/h kill the deal.

I received a pair yesterday, (I paid $200, because at the time when I ordered, $10 off $100 coupon doesn't work with free shipping, and $10 off $99 coupon has not yet come out).

They are GREAT speakers, I mean both SIZE and sound.

Description from buy.com:

This 3-way 8" floorstanding loudspeaker with MDF enclosure reproduces sound with unmatched clarity and power. Shielded components allow placement near video monitors. High-temperature, oversized Kapton voice coil and HeatScap motor structure allow these speakers to effortlessly play all types of movies and music. A low-diffraction IsoPower baffle directs the sound power into the room, reducing distortion caused by cabinet vibration. The lock-mitred, computer-designed enclosure requires no bracing. The FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. JBL's custom-designed drivers allow the use of simple, Straight-line Signal Path (SSP) crossover networks with high-quality electrical components that minimize processing that could degrade the signal.

This is an excellant deal considering they were $around 175-199 a piece 3 months ago. I own a whole JBL setup including N26 fronts and N24 backs. Let me tell you that these speakers rock and kill anything in there class. The price on them is unbelievable as well. Pick up a pair of these and you wont be didapointed

That's a good deal. Possibly a better one is the JBL S26 (series I) bookshelf speakers at www.jandr.com for $159 per pair with free shipping. These speakers retailed at $350 prior to the introduction of the series II. They are the same exact sound quality as the series II as well. Very detailed high and smoth, flat midrange. That's probably the best deal for a speaker pair anywhere online at the moment.

If any of you need some nice speakers, the Studio Series that JBL have are awesome. The s36 will go nice with my s312's.

How is this speaker compare to the Energy 5.2? I was thinking to get Energy 5.2 + the 8" sub (Energy 8.2).

Just got my N38s yesterday. They are very nice (and a great deal) BUT boy are they top-heavy! If you're going to have these things on any kind of plush carpet, you'll need to buy/make some feet for it!
