HOT OFF THE PRESS - AOL and Warner (FCC Accepting Merge)

Always Off Line (AOL)

Just dont see that making a difference where I live; Guess sometime soon we will see them get ripped apart like Microsoft.

It will be quite some time before any of that has an effect on you. There's alot of stuff that has to happen first. I'm not at liberty to discuss the details, but don't worry about an imminent address change. The deal isn't complete by a long shot.

DanC: As a RoadRunner (TimeWarner) subscriber for about 5 years I am very worried about this deal. The last thing I want is to have to log into the RR network only to get spammed by 3 popup adds that you have to decline. Then open my Email only to get spammed some more. Then open my AOL browser that automatically launches to the AOL.com homepage. You get my point. Can you assure the current RR subscribers that this kind of stuff isn't going to happen?

Maybe it's time for DSL?

Rob

PS - :| AOL Totally Blows! :|

Nooooooooooooooo!

/me throws his cane down and starts whacking AOL with his cane......

I will immediately switch to DSL if they force me to use AOHELL!!!!! :|:|:|

I may switch anyway, seems like my RR connection has been slowing down a LOT lately, must have signed a bunch of new users and didn't upgrade, and I have no desire to fatten the pockets of the AOL corporate mongrels. :|

Robor, you can turn off the popup adds. 🙂 I used AOL for a while 😱 and never got any. AOL still sucks though! 😀

What I don't get is the marketing for new versions! Oh sure there's new features, but the emphasis is that "new version 6.0 is now even easier!" Hello?!? You'd have had to have been a COMPLETE MORON to not know how to use version 3.0!! And yet they're now up to version 6.0!?!

Apparently Murphy's Law is right:

The sum intelligence of the planet is a constant - the population is growing.

Understand that I in no way speak for, nor represent RR.

The only thing I know is that there's a sh*tload of equipment, data centers, etc out there and that will take time to work out. It's going to be awhile. No one knows yet who gets what... so it's premature to be overly concerned.

"You'd have had to have been a COMPLETE MORON to not know how to use version 3.0!!" - networkman

So true! But even worse than the new AOL versions are the books on how to use AOL. "AOL for dummies" comes to mind. 🙂
