The pressrelease by parent company CMGI is here, and the paragraph in question is listed below for your lazy convenience:

"Corporate Restructuring Continues

CMGI and certain of its majority-owned operating companies, such as Engage and AltaVista, continue to announce corporate restructuring initiatives, including business unit realignments, divestitures and workforce reductions. Among recent actions, CMGI today announced its decision to discontinue services provided by ExchangePath, and that it is currently exploring strategic alternatives for the business. Collectively, these actions are designed to address opportunities to leverage operating efficiencies and reduce cash burn, both within the respective businesses and for CMGI at large, and are expected to span each of the firm's business segments as the fiscal year progresses."

You can cancel at this email address.
I also changed what I could of my personal info, because I don't want them
selling my info. I was not, however, able to change my cc info, except for the expire date (to this month).

Anybody know any way to change the cc info?

(I also told them in my email (fwiw) that I do not agree that they may give my info to anybody, now that
our agreement is terminated. I don't expect that to work, but it's worth a try....)

edit--> add link here.

Exchangepath just reactived my suspended account yesterday and they are going to close soon? Well, they deserve it!

it's about time EP goes out of bussiness! there are so many horror stories about EP here.... they finally got what they deserve.... good-bye EP! don't let the door hit you on the bum on your way out!

😀

Good, their stupid site was down every time I went to it. Suckers.

I've always preferred paypal, they've always worked fine for me (Can't say the same for everyone else!). Worth the 2% fee I think.

paypal is good...fast transcation and safe....yahoo paydirect is safe too..but slow transcation..but if they keep rasing the rate..i will quit...

If your money is locked up b/c you sent money and the other person has not (or cannot) fullfilled EP's requirements, that person can still send it back to your account. Then you can cancel your account once you've gotten your money back.

"once you've gotten your money back."

That's really the problem. Now that they're closing up shop, can we be assured of getting our money back?

Other choices so that PayPal doesn't gouge the users (more than they do today). Check out Yahoo Direct and BillPoint. Each accept payments from outside their auction circle. Yes, you pay a fee, but then you've seen what happens with FREE services.

Thank God, I've never used their service although I signed up or I would be worrying on how to get back my moolah by now:frown:

dude, paypal does NOT really gouge us. i find that most people on eb*y use paypal already, and that is what they are most comfortable with. they have the automatic payment request think that is a godsend and they have very good customer support (the 24/7 800 CS line is nice). man, you get what you pay for....

I'm with Yodayoda on this one. Paypal doesn't really rip you off because if you think about how much merchant charges would be, you would realize 1.9% + 30c/transaction is peanuts compared to the requirements you would have to meet to get a merchant account and the fees you would have to pay.

You can get into the system by using the login in the upper right corner of the home page. You apparantly can NOT log in following the directions in the email they sent.

Another wrinkle tho... no matter which of my CC's I enter, it comes back that the card is invalid. Seems like they arent going to make this easy. Sure would be unfortunate if I had to go there in person.

I guess we need a little further assessment of this situation. Has ANYONE been able to successfuly retrieve their money?
