This is a really good deal for someone looking to build an entry-level mountain bike or a commuter/beater bike. Cro-Mo frame with eylets for rack/fenders.

Not too sure many people into entry level will want to build their own bikes... I'm worried about the rust and the fact that you have no idea how much this thing weighs and what kind of butting's on it...

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of beater/commuter really.... I mean, who the hell cares how much it weighs, etc when its just supposed to get you to/from work or class. I've converted my mountain bike to a commuter for the time being, but I'm definitely getting one of these to save wear and tear on my good bike.

As for the rust issue, simply coat the inside of the frame with Weigel Frame Saver Spray and you'll never have to worry about rust as long as you retreat every few years or so. Believe me, I've owned nothing but steel road bikes over the last 10 years and this stuff really works. It's impossible not to get caught in the rain during the summer here in the south once in a while.

After building up a nice specialized cromoly frame..and steel is truly 'real' as they say.. I learned that if you end up buying even a few parts.. GET a new bike for $200-300. Each piece like a headset or a crank really adds up.

And the free labor.

Better to get a new bike.. even swapping parts on.. you still expend time.
