not to mention the 2gb one has TF III cooler and is higher-clocked, but that deal is not available at the moment. But at this price, 650 Ti Boost 1gb would essentially kill off all 650 Ti, HD 7790 and HD 7850 1gb's.

Even with the 1GB limitation this is still by far the best performance/cost card available right now. 1GB is not going to hold back a mid-range card in most cases. Excellent deal.

Looks like you've discovered a little twist in the 650Ti Boost release...Nvidia is under-spec'ing its 1GB models across the board.

Due to the fact that all reviewers received 2GB cards, it seems no one was made aware in the original release reviews that the 1GB models wouldn't have the same memory speed.

And, to answer your question, the impact will be fairly drastic - I'd estimate at least a 10% reduction in performance, making it much closer to the HD7790 in performance. I'd take the 7790 instead just for the free games.

I found a Serbian review on this card (http://hardware.benchmark.rs/video_karte/test_msi_geforce_gtx_650_ti_boost_1gb/strana_2/) showing the memory used is Hynix H5GQ1H24BFR T2C, which is good up to 5.0 gbps, as opposed to Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR R0c (good for 6.0 gbps) used on the 2gb version. The benchmark results showed very little difference between the 1gb and 2gb versions (at least at 1080p), confirming what most reviews site found whey they compared 1gb and 2gb versions of mid-range cards, such as 7850. It appears that in order to further differentiate the 1gb and 2gb cards, NVidia used lower-spec RAM's for the 1gb ones. If you're strapped for cash, go for the 1gb one and try your luck with overclocking. Personally, I'd pay $20 more for the 650 ti boost PE/OC (with more and faster RAM, as well as higher gpu clock and better cooler). MSI is always offering rebates; I'm sure more deals are on the way.

um resolution has been pretty stagnant for many years except for the handful of people with a 2560 screen or multi monitor setup. we need more vram because of graphics settings that require it not just the resolution. but yeah with a card as fast as the gtx650 ti boost then you want 2gb for especially for an sli setup.

It's about 25-30% faster in games, probably not quite as much in CUDA, as Fermi was very strong in that regard.

no its about 55-60% faster in games than a stock 460 so still 50-55% faster than that 460 with its very mild oc.

Coming from the guy who complained bitterly about this generation of cards for a long time, I'm surprised.

In a best case scenario, the 650 Ti Boost will be 50% faster, but in most cases, it will be closer to 30% faster.

I looked through tpu on this the other day and yes the 650ti boost is just under 60% faster than a stock 460. and you do realize that the 460 was released almost 3 years ago dont you? the 650ti boost is MUCH faster than the regular 650ti that we had until nvidia wanted to wrap up that price segment a month ago. so yes the initial 6 series were not that impressive over the 5 series.
