Hi,
This is actually my first "hot" post here. So please "forgive" me if I did anything wrong.

Artec e+48U UltraThin Flatbed Scanner #479363 $79.98 - rebate $60.00 = $19.98
+
Symantec Norton Internet Security 2002 Std Edition #469109 $49.94 - rebate $20.00 - upgrader rebate $30.00 = $0 or Norton SystemWorkS 2002 #469113
+
IBM-Via Voice Personal v9.0 #471112 $19.94 - rebate $20.00 = $0
+
some cheap things like the paperclip or the pencil #107250
-
$30 off $150 coupon 2622x
+
tax and free shipping
=
-$10.00 after 4 rebate

Or you can change the IBM-Via Voice to a TDK 32x 80-Minute CD-R, 50/Pack $4.99 #452651 to make $5.00 back. But I think the CD-R is out of stock right now.

If you don't have a previous version of the Norton software, then substitute McAfee Virusscan 6 (Item 469540; Price $39.99 - $20 instant savings coupon - $20 upgrader rebate = free) for the IBM Via Voice.

It turns out that McAfee Virusscan 6 and Norton Systemworks satisfy each other's upgrader rebate requirement.

The math works out the same I think. You make $10 in the end.

Take a look at tec*bargains for details, which is where I got the idea.

Personally, having $100+ tied up in rebates in order to make $10 doesn't sound too appealing to me, unless I'm able to egay the Norton or McAfee software or the scanner.

I went to Best Buy this weekend to see about the details of the upgrade. The box says 'any previous version of any Norton software or competitors' like McAfee.

IIRC, they wanted a photocopy of the CD/floppies.

That's a lot of buying and waiting around for only $10. But at least your first post is a profit post :)
